Music: Okay here is where I really have something to say. Growing up music was always with me, starting in the 60's with the Beatles, through the mid 90's. Then, for some reason, I stopped listening to music. In 2008, something caused me to get back into music in a big way. What happened ? Well first a friend took me to FYE to burn a cd. So I'm going through the catalogue trying to pack as much onto the cd as possible in the same genre, and I couldn't fill it out. So then I started looking, and searching, and, key point, remembering music and artists. And the key moment came when I was driving around with the same friend and this song came on the radio. A song from the 80's that I remembered. An obscure song, but a great song. Kind of a freestyle, dance song with a beat. I didn't know the name of the song or the artist. I didn't even know the words. So I couldn't search lyrics. So I searched and searched and searched until finally after months of searching I found it at digitaldreamdoor/freestyle #69
Yo Little Brother by Nolan Thomas. Ever heard it ? I'm listening to it as I write this. And since then I have collected what I think are the best songs of all time. And so for perspective on my eclectic musical taste here is a link to the Rolling Stone Magazine list of the 500 best songs of all time(in their opinion):
And here are the songs that are on their list and on mine:
#24 People Get Ready - The Impressions
#48 All Along The Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix
#50 The Tracks Of My Tears - Smokey Robinson
#89 California Dreamin' - The Mamas & The Papas
#91 Suspicious Minds - Elvis Presley
#103 Hot Stuff/Bad Girls - Donna Summer
#120 I Want You Back - Jackson 5
#121 Stand By Me - Ben E. King
#146 Rock Lobster - B-52s(Saw them w/Talking Heads in 1979)
#239 The Wanderer - Dion
#245 The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down - Band(I've Joan Baez)
#246 (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me)Higher and Higher-Jackie Wilson
#276 I'll Take You There - The Staple Singers
#308 Lonely Teardrops - Jackie Wilson
#338 Maybe I'm Amazed - Paul McCartney
#342 Runaround Sue - Dion
#344 Piece Of My Heart - Janis Joplin
#348 That Lady (Part 1 and 2) - The Isley Brothers
#369 I'm a Man - Bo Diddley(I've Chicago and Yardbirds)
#462 Respect Yourself -The Staple Singers
#474 One Nation Under a Groove - Funkadelic
#479 Lady Marmalade - Patti LaBelle
So from their top 500, I like 22. For anyone reading this, I would be interested in: Your impression of the top 500, of my songs in the 500, and the other 478 songs not on my list. What I would really like is for someone to see my song lists and that would be a good thing to discuss.
As for food, mostly cereal, pasta, fruits, nuts, dairy. I drink a lot of milk. 3+ gallons a week, and 1 percent.
