I am crippled, verbose, and generally amused.

My Self-Summary

Archaeologist, brought up in the middle east, now living in london. After a ping-pong related incident (sporting injury) over the summer, I am now having difficulty walking unaided. Once I have a life again, I shall pad this section out further.

As to music, I'm a big folk music fan, by which I mean a person who likes folk a lot, and not somebody very large who likes folk. I'm also a big fan of Electronica in general, industrial music in particular and quite a lot of things that sound like a man in an empty room hitting a pipe with a chain. I also like a lot of Punk and Goth music, although I'll be the first to admit that this depends greatly on personal definitions of genres. I also like, while I appear to be using this confessional format, bluegrass and some grassroots hip-hop, trip-hop (less grass-roots, as I'm entirely unable to reconcile the two concepts, ) tradional arabic and turkish music, a lot of rather well-known bands c. 1950-1970. I'm also quite a fan of the comic song, although I tend to find them difficult to dance to.

What I’m doing with my life

At present? I'm essentially trying to give myself a little peace - I'm applying to some digs around the UK, as I think a few months out of it (tm) would sort me out pretty well. I hope so, anyway. I'm also trying to get publication as a graphic novel artist, and I seem to be surprisingly close.

I’m really good at

Blagging it (tm,) excavation, juggling, picking up bits of languages, rolling comedically bad cigarettes and making a bloody tit of myself.

The first things people usually notice about me

It depends on situation, really. I occasionally wear seriously over the top face-paint when I'm going out, so that might get noticed. some people notice that I walk with a limp and a stick, which tends to stand out. The occasional person notices my eyes, which are quite a bright green. Depending on the occasion, I may also be bellowing gibberish.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Music, I appear to have jumped the gun on and covered in the "about me" section.

Movies? I like Daren Aranofsky, I quite like the Cohen Brothers and I enjoy Veim Herzog, although I need to see more of his films.

Books, now, books. I read a lot: I'm lysdexic, so it's quite slow, but as long as I can remember I have loved reading. I like some sci-fi, quite a lot of sci-fi, and fantasy, atlhough I'm less obsessive over that than once I was. I like, for some reason, a lot of slavic literature - it's a style thing, I suppose. I like Tolstoy, and have enjoyed what Dostoyevsky as I have read, as well as Stanislaw Lem and (new line for dramatic effect)

particularly Alexander Solzhenitsyn.

The six things I could never do without

At present? Cigarettes, somebody to sing with, my walking stick (for largely practical reasons,) a way to find new songs, a laugh and a way out.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

many things. 42 and all that. Religion (unspecified,) where to go from here. I spend a lot of the time thinking about being at sea (which I have not done much since I was a child.)

On a typical Friday night I am

usually with friends. either out or in, but I do like having people around at the moment. Either that, or I'll be at home, covered in ink.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

is probably mentioned on this profile somewhere. I dislike broadcasting particularly personal stuff, but more than willing to talk about pretty much anything in a face-to-face (or inbox-to-inbox) manner.

You should message me if

You fancy a chat, you like folk music, you're curious. Just message me if you have a reason to want to do so, basically. So... yeah.
