My self-summary
I just rewrote my profile and it suddenly got much longer.

I recently moved here from Europe I was living in Germany and before that Vietnam. I am a Canadian but have't ever lived here so am learning the differences between here, Great-Britain where I was born and France where I grew up.

I am in charge of the Academic department in one of the language schools in town and it's both challenging and rewarding which I think any job should be.

I know who am, what I need, where my limits are and I think I am able to convey that clearly without being pushy, bossy or arrogant. I like well balanced people with a quirky streak. I don't have much time for constant moaning (I do on occason do a bit but think it's fine as long as it's funny, right?), negativity or the 'I want to but I can't attitude' In my opinion that means you don't really want to. I have an optimistic outlook on life and if something bugs me I'll change it or learn to live with it if I can't and move on.

I love swiming and scuba diving and need to be by the water as often as possible, even just to watch it. I live in the west end so that makes it very easy for me. I haven't been skiiing in ages but I used to be quite good and would love to go again soon. I like walking, cycling and camping in good weather only though and go for the occasional run. I love boats and used to help my dad sail his little sail boat when younger, I also love trains too. The longest ever train ride I was on was the trans-siberian from Moscow to Irkutsk. 86 hours.

I could go on but it's a summary.
What I’m doing with my life
figuring out what makes me happy and finding ways to keep doing it. I'm getting much better at it and am where I want to be and doing want I want to do. So life is good.
I’m really good at
Getting lost... I have no sense of direction at all.
The first things people usually notice about me
depends who you ask. Some of my friends would just say short, others would say French and the nicer ones would say my winning personality and witty charm (or maybe that's me?)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm just going to list a few favourites:
like crash, an excellent film about people lives colliding and how that all changes them, Shawshank redemption, Canadian Bacon (had to watch it before I came here) basically anything that makes me laugh or feel something but I'll watch pretty much anything really: daywalkers, contant garderner, bridemades, hangover... except things to do with loud cars... too fast too furious just looks awful.
I have been watching a lot series recently. I love the walking dead, watched all of lost and was left feeling disapointed, californication, nip tuck, ncis but it got a bit samey as did grey's anatomy... I love documentaries about anything but mosty stuff like planet earth and air crash investigation. The age of stupid was also great. Ted talks like Simon Sinek 'start with why'
Books I like are usually about understanding culture, education and behavior like 'Watching the English' and '60 Million French Men can't be Wrong'.
Music again anything really but Tracy Chapman always is on my play list, The Do, The Killers, Blue Rodeo, Michael Jackson (saw him in concert and was amazing) Akon,Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Kings of Leon, Pink, Lady Gaga, Lene Merlin, Damian MArley and some French stuff: IAM, Zebda, 100% colleagues, Daft punk...
The six things I could never do without
~coffee can't start the day without it and wouldnt want to. I have been called a coffee snob and I take it as a compliment.
~regular trips to big, open water now I live in Vancouver that has become easier.
~internet for obvious reasons.
~cheese I am a bigger cheese snob than a coffee one. I will drink cofffee regardless but if I can't good cheese then I tend to live without it until cravings get too bad and I splurge in an overpriced snobby cheese shop. Luckily I havent found one here yet. I lived in France for too long.
~sincere frienships and the intimacy between people who just get each other and understand what the othe is on about. I have amazing friends they just all live a million miles away.
~alone time: I'm not a loner at all but I find I need some down time to fully recuperate from busy work weeks.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
a lot of stuff but a few common ones are:
~ Travel: where/when to go diving next, where to go next, how to find time to go and vist friends in distant places and how to find time to go somewhere new.
~Work (hopefully this will change soon) but I am new in my company which is going through some pretty big structural changes and transitions and I am in charge of rolling them out in my department. This leads me to the next point:
~People and Behaviour: how people cope differently with things. Some embrace change some run from it, some are risk-takers others like a calm, quiet existance. I love to try and understand why people do things and what makes them tick. I think if I didn't do what I do I would either be a physchotherapist or somehow involved in understanding behaviour and why people do one thing rather than the other or buy one thing vs another (isn't that marketing)
~how I am going to put my IKEA stuff together....
On a typical Friday night I am
I would like to think I never have a typical night but my fridays are the same as everybodys. Unwinding after work either with friends or in with a book or a movie.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
when I need some mindless TV show to watch I seem to gravitate towards Vampire Drama... True Blood, Vampires diaries, Twilight (the books) the films were too bad even for me...

I'm going to quote the lyrics to a slightly corny, older song that always makes me smile:

"If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
If you're not into yoga, if you have half-a-brain.
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape.
I'm the lady you've looked for, write to me, and escape."
