My self-summary
I try my best to live by this line from one of my favorite songs - "Decide what to be, and go be it."
What I’m doing with my life
I graduated from school in Boston in 2012 with a degree in Government and moved to Florida for 6 months to work as a Field Organizer on the Obama campaign. Now I'm working at a really cool consulting firm, flying around the world and loving it.

I play guitar and sing in a blues-rock trio called Whippoorwill, you can check out our music at Also love to play more acoustic, folk-y stuff when I get the chance.

I play ice hockey in an adult league in Oakland on a team called "Just the Tip-Ins." No, unfortunately (or fortunately?) I was not the one who came up with that name.
I’m really good at
- Throwing small food items in the air and catching them with my mouth
- Finding the perfect song for every occasion (and singing it to you whether or not you enjoy it)
- Unintentionally memorizing movie lines
- Packing a suitcase
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: My favorites include The Grapes of Wrath, A Hundred Years of Solitude, Beloved, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, and many more. As a kid I loved mysteries - the Hardy Boys and Encyclopedia Brown were my favorites.

Movies: Fight Club, Pulp Fiction, The Hangover, Memento, Drive, Napoleon Dynamite, and lots more.

You're not wrong, Walter, you're just an asshole.

Music: My favorite musicians are those that inspire my own songwriting, including Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, the Rolling Stones, The Avett Brothers, Dawes, the Black Keys, Hendrix, Zeppelin, Wilco, RCHP, Radiohead, DMB, Townes Van Zandt, Lissie, Langhorne Slim, Joe Pug, Jack White, the Pixies, and lots and lots of others.
The six things I could never do without
- musical instruments
- hockey
- the outdoors
- Maker's Mark
- black coffee
- flannel pajama pants (there are few things in the world more important than being comfy)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why do so few Americans actively participate in civic and public life, and how can we change that?

Why do we spend more to incarcerate a criminal in this country than we do to educate a student?

When in the world are we finally going to convert to the metric system?!?
On a typical Friday night I am
While I can certainly party with the best of 'em when called for, I tend to prefer slightly more low-key hangouts with fun people, good beer, engaging conversation, and ideally a musical instrument or two.
