My self-summary
I try my best to live by this line from one of my favorite Avett Brothers songs - "Decide what to be, and go be it."
What I’m doing with my life
I play guitar and sing in a blues-rock trio called Whippoorwill. We just released our debut EP - check it out at

I graduated from Harvard in 2012 with a degree in Government and moved to Florida for 6 months to work as a Field Organizer on the Obama campaign. I recently started a new job at a consulting firm, which I'm loving so far.

I also play ice hockey in an amateur league on a team called "Just the Tip-Ins." No, unfortunately (or fortunately?) I was not the one who came up with that name.
I’m really good at
Throwing small food items in the air and catching them with my mouth, finding the perfect song for every occasion (and singing it to you whether or not you enjoy it), unintentionally memorizing movie lines, packing a suitcase.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: My favorites include The Grapes of Wrath, A Hundred Years of Solitude, Beloved, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, and many more. As a kid I loved the Hardy Boys and Encyclopedia Brown.

Movies: Fight Club, Pulp Fiction, The Hangover, Memento, Drive, Napoleon Dynamite, and lots more.

TV: I don't watch a ton of TV, but I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that I'm a HUGE West Wing fan. As much as I may wish I was Josh Lyman, I'm definitely Sam Seaborn through and through.

Music: I could talk about music for days. My favorite musicians are those that inspire my own songwriting, including Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, The Avett Brothers, Bruce Springsteen, the Black Keys, Hendrix, Zeppelin, Wilco, RCHP, Radiohead, DMB, Townes Van Zandt, Langhorne Slim, Joe Pug, Jack White, and lots and lots of others.
The six things I could never do without
Musical instruments, Maker's Mark, black coffee, politics, flannel pajama pants, and the Detroit Red Wings.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why do so few Americans actively participate in civic and public life, and how can we change that?

Why do we spend more to incarcerate a criminal in this country than we do to educate a student?

When in the world are we finally going to convert to the metric system?!?
On a typical Friday night I am
While I can certainly party with the best of 'em sometimes, I generally prefer slightly more low-key hangouts with fun people, good beer, intelligent, engaging conversation, and ideally a musical instrument or two.

If too much alcohol is involved, however...well, just check out my last photo to see what can happen...I'm a bit of a sleepy drunk.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't like Pink Floyd. It's ok if you do, just don't make me listen to them.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 18–26
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if'd like to grab coffee or a drink sometime.

...or if you play piano and would like to learn to play guitar, and think it would be cool to give me piano lessons in exchange for me giving you guitar lessons!
