What I’m doing with my life
Just moved to DC for a position working with scholars in Africa and
Asia to learn about and understand global change issues. I focus on
climate change and education. I travel occasionally to Africa and
hang out with really smart folks.
I’m really good at
Laughter; pretending to be a good cook; taking baths with only a
bucket of water; smiling; rambling emails; swimming;
The first things people usually notice about me
My smile - gap tooth, dimples, and all.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books (recent reads) - Visit from the Goon Squad, Middlesex, Little
Bee, My Year of Meats, The Giver (again), Room, State of
Wonder
Movies - most anything but horror
Shows - Nurse Jackie, United States of Tara, Bones, House, Glee
Music - Mumford and Sons, Ingrid Michaelson, Missy Higgins, Adele, Kate Nash, Dave Brubeck, Jeffery Foucault, Wailin Jennys, Josh Ritter, etc.
Food - anything local and seasonal that I can be creative with. And pretty much any ethnic foods.

The six things I could never do without
friends and family, music, chocolate, bodies of water (pools,
lakes, rivers), fresh fruits and veggies,
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I just finished graduate school so I'm looking for new and fun
things to think about besides my dissertation. Ideas welcome!
On a typical Friday night I am
enjoying dinner and a drink with friends or some down time to catch
a movie or some extra zzzz before the fun of Saturday
