I am Adventurous, Laidback, and Goofy.
My Self-Summary
Hi, I'm Chris, moved to Chandler in the summer of '07 from KS to
take a new job and try a new setting. I've fallen in love with the
4 corners area! I really like to spend time in the outdoors:
Hiking/camping, 4x4ing, boating, exploring! I enjoy my job, which
is often very exciting, launching/chasing/recovering high altitude
communication balloons.
What I’m doing with my life
I earned a B.S. in History at Kansas State Univeristy, but have yet
to actually use it. I thought about teaching HS, but after a year
of substitute teaching, I found it wasn't actually for me. I
managed a boat marina on a lake in KS for 8 years, but began to
burn out because I wanted to see more than the same town everyday.
My current job flying balloons is exciting, but the company is
really hurting and not sure how much longer this gig will last. I
have really became interested in wild public lands, and have been
looking into land management for the BLM or National Park Service.
I would like to spend some time in southern Utah; this beautiful
area seems to be drawing me in.
I’m really good at
I have yet to discover a definite advanced talent that I possess,
but I survive this crazy world by utilizing a "jack-of-all-trade,
master of none" ability.
The first things people usually notice about me
When people first meet me, they comment on my upbeat, friendly
attitude. Sadly, my most recent nickname at work is "happy feet". I
can be slow at accepting someone as a true friend, but those that I
do usually comment that after getting to know me more, they find
another side of me that is more complex than the happy-go-lucky
most people see.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I mostly read non-fiction books, pertaining to historic events or
people, anthropology/archaeology, or real-life adventures. I
subscribe to several magazines, such as Backpacking, National
Geographic, and Arizona Highways.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
...Vacation! I have always had a wonderlust, and thrive when
traveling. I like making memories so I can access them when times
are tough or when I'm old and hopefully not senile! I love maps,
and spend a lot of time planning and executing trips to the blank
spots on them.
On a typical Friday night I am
I'm not into the bar scene, rather be enjoying an evening on the
lake or porch, but barely find time for that with my current
intense job. I spend a lot of Friday nights packing up the truck
for a weekend on the road.
