My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a 33 year old idiot with a passion for the creative process. I've spent my life in the midst of it and even went to great lengths to try to understand it well enough to teach it to someone. I'm also a single dad and have a seven year old daughter named Kiley who spends her summers with me. She's hilarious, too smart for her own good, and adorable.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I completed my undergrad in Studio Art in Pensacola. Went to grad school at FSU for Art Education. Now, I bike to work when I can, substitute teach, and officiate youth and high school soccer-- all while doing my best to raise Kiley in a postmodern gobbledigook of culture. Sometimes I make run on sentences too. I spent a lot of time writing songs for a few years. I'm currently working on home recording a new album after 7 or so years of no recording. I have a page of older stuff on last.fm. Just search for The Max Fischer Players.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Senseless criticism of books/music/movies, writing sad songs about the stuff around me. I'm a cocky idiot when it comes to the art thing--but that's mainly due to the schooling. I promise I'm much nicer and more civil about teaching it than I am about the stuff I like or don't like, but I do have pretty strong, relatively educated opinions. I think I get along pretty well with most peoples too. Oh and I am more or less addicted to competitive, elite level ultimate (with the disc and the teams and the endzones, etc.).
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Hopefully it's not my right pinky. I can't straighten it all the way because of an injury sustained while playing ultimate.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Books: Anything by Roald Dahl (The BFG is my jam), Flatland, Bukowski and Fante, Bill Watterson's entire catalog, Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Einstein's Dreams, Hitchhiker's guide, and Catch-22. And I also want to thank Kurt Vonnegut here for being a saint.

Movies: Wes Anderson and PT Anderson are incredible, as well as Charlie Kaufman. To further endorse Kaufman, The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind continues best movie I've ever seen and Synecdoche, New York absolutely broke my heart. The Coen brothers aren't half bad either. The Triplets of Belleville is the best animated feature I've encountered and easily a top ten favorite of mine. And Herzog is a wonderful mad scientist with a movie camera.

Music: The first two weezer albums are the best records ever made. The Decemberists make me want to set out to sea. Rilo Kiley affected me enough that I named my daughter after the band. The Magnetic Fields made, quite possibly, the most impressive body of creative work I've encountered with 69 Love Songs. I hate Conor Oberst, and Bright Eyes in turn, for being such a whiny little bastard, but still so damn good at turning a poignant phrase. Vampire Weekend and Maritime both put smiles on my face. Girl Talk made me believe in the possibility of simultaneously listening to every song I've ever loved and it being the most enjoyable dance party ever imagined. And Justin Vernon currently holds the "sad songs I wish I'd written" title in my mind after the most recent Bon Iver release.

Foods: I like olives the least.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Legs, pop music, my guitar, a good disc, a bike, and Kiley. And definitely the careful balance maintained between coffee and alcoholic/adult beverages. I mean I could do without them, but why would I want to?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
my future, Kiley's future, the state of education in the state
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Crashing from the long week, socially and medicinally coping with the long week, or sometimes in a rented room to wake up and chase a plastic disc in the morning.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I play ultimate and otherwise engage in physical activity to keep from going insane.

you can deal with opinionated, benevolent jackasses. I like talking with folks and am always looking for a new friend with whom to grab coffee and/or a beer. Fitness is a pretty big component of my daily travels, but it's more that I can't stop beating myself up than anything else.
