Hey. I'm Patrick. I grew up in Colorado, went to school in Oregon, worked at a public alternative school for a year, and now I'm a graduate student at Brown. I love adventures, the outdoors, music, and goofy video games. I'm a generally goofy guy.

I'm almost two years in to earning my PhD in Social Psychology. I teach, I write, I run experiments. I read more papers than exist in the world. I crunch numbers like a young, slightly less pompous Nate Silver. Someday I'll have a science blog. I collect concert posters and national park visits. I also really enjoy literature and creative writing.

My favorite kinds of people are artists, teachers, and scientists. I think these professions all exist on some strange spectrum of creativity - it's what connects everyone, yeah?

Reading. Thinking. Turning everything into a joke. Eating. Board games. Mario Kart.

I'm a supreme optimist. I have perfect teeth. I have hipster glasses, but I try not to think they're better than others'. I'm usually trying to make a pun out of the last thing someone said.

My Pagan girlfriend in elementary school told me I have lightning in my eyes, but nobody's told me that since.

Music: Andrew Bird, Radiohead, LCD Soundsystem, Bon Iver, Arcade Fire, Rufus Wainwright, The National. These guys are just the start, though; I love talking about music and going to shows. Full disclosure: I'm a sucker for pop music.

Books: anything by Murakami, Life of Pi, Gatsby, Catch 22, Sound and the Fury. I dig popular Psychology, too. I'm always looking for book recommendations.

Radio: This American Life, Radiolab, The Moth.

Movies: Finding Neverland, Adaptation, Taken.

TV: Arrested Development, The Wire, Breaking Bad, classic Simpsons.

Food: Pizza, Pho, Thai, Mexican. Spicy.

You want to explore, see a show, try a new restaurant, or just sit around and have a conversation. I'd rather get to know someone over drinks than through a bunch of messages.
