My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hey. I'm Patrick. I grew up in Colorado, went to school in Oregon, worked at a public alternative school for a year, and now I'm in Providence. I love adventures, the outdoors, good beer, music, and games. I'm a generally positive, sarcastic, and goofy guy.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm three years in to earning my PhD in Social Psychology. I teach, I write, I run experiments. I read more papers than there are in the world. I run statistics and make predictions. Someday I'll be a science writer. I collect concert posters and national park visits. I also really enjoy literature and creative writing.

My favorite kinds of people are artists, teachers, and scientists. I think these professions all exist on some strange spectrum of creativity - it's what connects everyone, yeah?
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Reading. Thinking. Turning everything into a joke. Eating. board games. Mario Kart.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm a supreme optimist. I have perfect teeth. I have hipster glasses, but I try not to think they're better than others'. I'm usually trying to make a bad pun out of the last thing someone said.

Here's my favorite most recent one: I feel like I can never find what I want at Target - it's always hit or miss.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Music: Andrew Bird, Radiohead, LCD Soundsystem, Bon Iver, Arcade Fire, Rufus Wainwright, The National. These guys are just the start, though; I love talking about music and going to shows. Full disclosure: I'm a sucker for pop music.

Books: anything by Murakami, Life of Pi, Gatsby, Catch 22, Sound and the Fury. I dig popular Psychology, too. I'm always looking for book recommendations.

Radio: This American Life, Radiolab, The Moth.

Here's my all-time favorite piece of radio (Man and Beast):

Movies: Finding Neverland, Adaptation, Taken.

TV: Seinfeld, Arrested Development, The Wire, Breaking Bad, classic Simpsons.

Food: Pizza, Pho, Thai, Mexican. Spicy.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Board games
Music & Concerts
Colorado and Oregon beers
Don't make me pick between science and sweaters
My giant bean bag
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Why people are so weird in different situations. The future. When I'm finally going to be published. If the joke in my head is appropriate to tell or not. When am I ever going to make it to Stop & Shop.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Playing games.
Dressing up - bow ties and vests.
Continuing to look for a good New England beer.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I would date Taylor Swift in a second. Maybe she'd write a song about me.

You also laugh at this picture:

Honestly, I'd rather get to know someone over coffee or drinks than through a bunch of messages.

There's an upcoming concert or show you'd like to go see.

You think you can beat me at Super Mario Race Car.

Or if you just want to hang out and listen to David Bowie.
