I am open, innane, and jovial.

My Self-Summary

Well to get the basics out of the way I like movies, music, and good things. I dislike bad things. Now that's cleared up I can get to the real meat and potatoes.

My interests include classic cars, camping, hiking and other outdoor stuff, playing sports with friends but not so much watching them (I've been an Atlanta sports fan long enough to feel real physical pain watching their games) and movies.

"I can't complain but sometimes I still do Life's been good to me so far." I'm an educated person with a diverse collection of interests. I like to think I'm pretty good with cars. I've got a degree in Biology. I know a ton of off color bar jokes. I'm a progressive, not a democrat. I vote the issues not the party. I think too much power has been consolidated into too few political parties. I don't watch much tv. My favorite drink is a vodka martini and I think Jazz bars are awesome.

What I’m doing with my life

I graduated from Georgia Southern University with a degree in Biology and have hopes of doing work in that field. I'd really like to live like Jacques Cousteau, but I could live with being like Steve Zissou. :)

Right now I'm holding down a job as a lab tech and I'm saving up for grad school. Which would be a lot easier in happier economic times, but hey problems are like sandwiches everyone's got one . . . no wait, that's not it. If assholes were like sandwiches everyone would eat . . . well they'd all probably starve to death. You get where I'm going with this.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

When I say I like music I mean to say I like the idea of music. But not all music is created equal. I'm not a pop person. If I tell you that I like a pop song, I'm lying to you. If you find I'm lying to you about music you can go ahead and call me on it, but consider this, I'm being nice so hopefully that will count for something. I like rock music. From the 70's to the present is my range. That's a lot of music so I consider myself reasonably diversified in music or at least as diversified as I'm ever going to get.

In the movie dept. it is a tie between Big Fish and Stranger than Fiction. I also am a big fan of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, I Heart Huckabee's, The Weather Man, Pan's Labyrinth and a whole slew of other movies. Movies work much the same way as music. I have my comfort zone. Mindless action flicks get the A-OK as do trippy surrealist pieces. I like movies that make you think, I like movies that are best enjoyed when you don't. I like comedies, I like tragedies I like horror I like mysteries. But I'm not a romantic comedy person. I'll go to one, I'll even tell you that I thought it was funny or good if you push me about it. I'll be lying to you (read : dealing with me lying to you about music). But if you really take a guy to a romantic comedy and you genuinely believe he liked it I have some bad news . . .

As for book mostly I read the literary equivalent of Seinfield. Like Mark Twain said, "A classic is something that everybody wants to have read and nobody wants to read." Bill Bryson, for example, is very acomplished, funny and observant writer. He'll be remembered as such, but he won't be remembered as having turned the knowledge of the human condition on his head. And that's ok with me.

The six things I could never do without

Education, something new to see or learn, a challenge, friends,a good laugh and the 1973 Endangered Species Act

I spend a lot of time thinking about

"What kind of dining set defines me as a person?"

On a typical Friday night I am

Escaping from this one horse town to Rome hang out with friends.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

"I know Kung Fu" (not really)
