My self-summary
This is going to be long. You don't have to read it, but I've left a few fun quotes and jokes in there to help keep you going. Bon Appetit!

"I'm Your Huckleberry" - Doc Holliday (Tombstone)

I'm sure by now you've already figured out my name (If not, you're probably over-thinking it), though I was brought up to believe that it'd be impolite not to introduce yourselves to others upon a first meeting.

Hi, I'm James, and I'm pleased to make your E-cquaintance.

I speak in a way that most people find Charming, I dance in a way that most people find Fail, I sometimes do things that you'd find Alarming, and have honestly never eaten Kale. I eat when I'm hungry, which is all the Time; and have yet to meet a tree, I'd not wish to Climb. I run for Miles, through the hills of this City, and my penchant for Smiles is said to make my face Pretty.

I could go on, but I think you get the point. (Besides, any further, and I'm likely to disappoint-- [Aah, I can't stop!])
What I’m doing with my life
"Get Busy Livin', Or Get Busy Dyin'" Ellid Boyd 'Red' Redding (The Shawshank Redemption)

Professionally: 4 parts server, 3 parts cocktail waiter, and 4-5 parts teacher, depending on the patron's taste. Shake it up with ice, pour over a martini glass, and garnish it with a wedge of bar tending, and you have a very delicious (albeit busy), James cocktail.

Less Professionally: I'm trying to find a delicate balance between work and play, unless I'm getting out of it for a hike, camping trip, climb, or a mid week trip to Tahoe, in which case it is ALL play.
I’m really good at
I’m really good at...

...Whistling. Yep, I can whistle in a way that would make Flo-Rida jealous. You'll likely find me whistling uncontrollably anytime my mind is processing new stuff or problem solving.

...Karaoke. Pleasepleaseplease go with me, we can Duet (I should make it clear that I am not by any means a fantastic singer, however, I love entertaining as well as being the center of attention so this activity can accomplish both).

...making YOU feel awesome. I have a knack for making people feel good. This ranges anywhere between giving free massages, to a quick witted joke to lighten a dour mood.

...catching falling objects before they hit the ground. Honestly I could go pro with this.

...coming up with delicious plays on words.

...making up metaphors to describe complex situations.

"My Name is Rufus and That is the True-fus." - Marshall Erikson (How I Met Your Mother)
The first things people usually notice about me
My height is generally a pretty noticeable trait, and standing at exactly 6'2", I definitely strike an imposing silhouette (Sadly, it's almost all neck, [No, seriously, I'm a giraffe]). However, you're likely to hear me coming before you see me, as I can often be heard whistling wherever I go, singing in a rich baritone/sharp falsetto, or generally just chuckling to myself (you'd be laughing too if you could hear my thoughts).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love fictional works, no matter how old I get. Robert Jordan, Elizabeth Douglass, George R.R. Martin, J.R.R. Tolkien, Douglas Adams, Dan Brown, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Hermann Hesse, Suzanne Collins, & Herman Melville. I've recently relit my passion for reading, so I will be updating this more often.

I love movies so much that I could never even get into this, however, bonus points if you've seen "500 Days of Summer", "It's kind of a Funny Story", "Perks of Being a Wallflower", or can suggest a movie I HAVEN'T seen, and adore. I will watch, enjoy, and LOVE anything with Joseph Gordon-Levitt in it (500 Days, 50/50, Brick, Inception, Hesher, Angels in the Outfield, and Looper...). 50 automatic bonus points to you if you are also a huge fan of him.

In regards to Television, I watch: How I Met Your Mother, Dexter, The Office, Archer, Community, Parks and Recreation, The Walking Dead, Arrested Development, Breaking Bad, Wilfred, Sons of Anarchy, Suits, and Game of Thrones. (Wow, when you list them all, I don't know how I squeeze the time to watch these shows into my schedule [probably at the expense of sleep]).

Music: I don't have a favorite artist, nor do I have a favorite song. I feel that musical preference is so deeply personal, that stating it on here would only bring about judgement. Some songs I like, some I love, and some I dislike. Sometimes I find redeeming qualities to songs I've typically disliked. I'd love for YOU to play music around me that you enjoy, and see if I can make a connection. Or better yet, take me to a live show of a band/artist you enjoy, and let's see if you can develop my musical interests further.

I love food, and love eating. When I go out, I love going to hole in the wall highly rated restaurants. I enjoy all food types, and feel a desire to constantly try new things in all facets of life (especially food, though). Some personal favorites, however, are; Italian, Japanese/Sushi, Thai, Mexican, Spanish, Vegetarian, Chinese, Mediterranean, Greek, Southern, & Brazilian. I've not really met a dish, I've not enjoyed eating.

Edit: for the last 9 months or so I have switched over to a completely Gluten Free diet. Despite the fact that prior to this change my entire diet consisted of something gluten related, I found that switching over has not been that hard. I am an Omelet Artist. Seriously, once prepped I can make you the best and most beautiful omelet you've ever tried in under 5 minutes.

I eat a ton of chicken and fish, and am always finding new and exciting ways of preparing each. Also, I eat a ton of rice. Gluten Free folk know that rice is the glue that hold gluten free together.
The six things I could never do without
-My Stories/Life Experiences.
-NPR, or some other News Outlet to understand what is going on around me.
-Sarcasm, and a crowd that appreciates quick wit.
-A Pair of Running Shoes, and an open road to use them on.
-Interpersonal Communication. I never stop talking, and can stay up days at a time if I have someone there to listen to (or who wants me to listen). Make a connection with me, and I'll be your friend forever.
-Education. Whether formal, or universal, without something new to constantly study or research, I get antsy, irritated, and slightly depressed.

"The Things You Own End Up Owning You" - Tyler Durdan (Fight Club)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
"I’ve been listening to my gut since I was 14 years old, and frankly speaking, I’ve come to the conclusion that my guts have shit for brains" - Rob Gordon (High Fidelity)

Sometimes I wonder whether the 7 year old version of me would like me, and if he would be wrong/right to feel the way he does.

And most recently, Could an outbreak of Gonorrhea be called, "The Applause"? (Think about it for a second.... and now laugh).

^ Alright since no one seems to make mention of this in their messages to me, I'm going to assume that no one gets the joke, and explain it. If Gonorrhea is known as "The Clap"... wouldn't an outbreak be called, "The Applause"? See?! Get it?! It's Funny.

You're welcome.
On a typical Friday night I am
Everyone seems to believe that they will not define themselves by typical, and that is fine, since most people consider themselves unique, and living uniquely often requires one to be overly vague in their responses to dating websites.

But let's all face it, this question is really asking, "When you have free evenings off, what do you like to do?"

Can, "Meeting YOU for a drink" be an appropriate answer? I'm likely to suggest it.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a mild tremor that only shows up with my body stretches into certain positions. It can make doing yoga somewhat frightening to the instructors the first time they see it (Looks like a mild seizure, but I promise I'm okay).

I'll trust you until you give me a reason not to... And then I'll probably trust you still. Call me a push-over if you must, but I don't see how forgiveness is a weakness, and I don't see how one can properly forgive, without trust.

I have a lot of grey hair, and I kind of love it.

I love to travel but typically hate to take cliche photos of myself near monuments or important buildings. I love taking photos of people. Especially of the candid variety.

I make mistakes often. I've spent a majority of my life trying to rectify this, however, as of recently I've been trying harder to learn from my mistakes instead of trying to avoid them altogether.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 21–33
  • Located anywhere
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
"Not You, Fat Jesus" - Officer Franklin (the Hangover)

You think we'd make a connection, or you're interested enough in my interests to ask about them.

In a woman there is nothing sexier than being passionate. It can honestly be about anything, but seeing a woman's eyes light up when she talks about something is quintessential to a lasting romantic relationship. I rate this only just in front of confidence though. Trust me when I say, I'd not like to date you if you'd not like to date yourself.

Be confident, send me a message. I might not write back, but I guarantee that someone will, and you're beautiful for even trying.

You should also message me if you think you can beat me at a Karaoke Sing Off... I'm not saying I WILL beat you... But I'll make you work for it.
