Movies: A Scanner Darkly, Fight Club, What Dreams May Come, Eternal
Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Royal Tenenbaums. I could go on
really, but I like Wes Anderson stuff, or movies that try to
explore that universe between our ears.
Books: Stranger in a Strange Land, Fight Club, Ender's Game
trilogy, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance/Lila (ask me
about my "Metaphysics of Quality" tattoo).
TV: New Girl, Parks and Rec, 30 Rock, The Office. I know...
Everyone says they like The Office, but I really like The Office.
If I was a Bond Villain, I'd kidnap the entire cast, and have them
act out episodes for me on my secret island lair, that happens to
be shaped like a skull.
Music: Justice, Daft Punk, Feist, Girl Talk, Bright Eyes, The
Beatles (but who doesn't?). I was going through my CDs and I found
of signed copy of Brass by The Mini-Bosses that I had forgotten
about. I like listening to albums that tell a story, like Pink
Floyd's The Wall. Not to romanticize music from generations I
didn't live in, but I kinda got a thing for music that's really a
form of episodic storytelling. Bob Dylan's "Boots of Spanish
Leather" might be the most beautiful, longing, and unrequited love
song ever. And I had this weird phase where I'd listen to too much
Joe Cocker and Billy Joel. Ironically, "Alive 2007", in its
entirety, just might be the best album ever.
