I am eclectic, easy-going, and egalitarian.

My Self-Summary

In acting class I was told I have a tigger like bounce. You can see it best when my mood is at its highest. I am playful, and friendly, and brilliant, and funny.

I live a vibrant, fluid life. I am not direction-less just unanchored. I am adventurous and view life as transient rather than static. I try to enjoy and understand everything I can. I am terribly quiet at times, mostly telling jokes and puns or simply listening (I quite enjoy that). Considering my love of people, I am oddly a bit shy.

The things most likely to bring out that tigger-like bounce:
-Being around people important to me
-Dancing, especially with someone who enjoys it as much as me
-Being in the bush camping or hiking through nature
-Listening to others discuss ideas
-Creating something beautiful (painting, literature, code, etc.)
-Resolving a problem or synthesizing a big idea
-Volunteering and helping people out.
-Slinging drinks behind a bar for people. Sadly I don't do either bar-tending or volunteering much any more. Although as my life starts to stabilize I hope to return to more regular volunteering.
-Sitting down for a good, intellectually stimulating book, movie, or lecture, especially with someone to discuss it with.
-Travelling some where new (or some where old)
-Being right in the thick of the mass at a good outdoor live show (or at the front of the bar at a pub for an indoor one)
-New jokes, especially ones that allow me to achieve new levels of cheese.

Just about everything interests me and a good friend notes I am unusual in that I am as comfortable at 'the arts' as I am at 'the sciences'. I am very easy-going and take some pride in my capacity for self-reliance (possibly too much) and minimal impact. I have a tendancy to just dive into things that I know nothing about. I am very honest. I tend to be direct when queried, but subtle and indirect otherwise.

What I’m doing with my life

On a general level, maintaining a rich, happy life collecting stories, going on adventures and learning new skills. On a '10-year-plan' type level I am finishing up my second degree before returning to game development (was laid off a while back). Once my student debts are repaid I intend to (finally) begin grad studies back in psychology (I am, ironically, out of place behind a computer).

I also continue to try to resolve the seemingly incompatible desire for constant change and unlimited flexibility with a growing a envy of stability and security.

I’m really good at

Some of the most common I hear are baking and mixing. People are usually impressed when I do arm stalls (flair move). I have a knack for finding interesting things to do (I blame it on my obsession with new experiences). I'm a superb listener. I can pack very lightly.

The first things people usually notice about me

That I am very quiet, but witty. The former is temporary though.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

My favourite books are The Sun Also Rises, Godel Escher Bach, Green Eggs and Ham, and the trilogy of five of Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy.

My favourite movies are Se7en, Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain, Robin Hood: Men In Tights (really any Mel Brooks film), Beautiful Girls, Alien 3, Good Will Hunting, Waking Life.
There is a long list of others I enjoy though like Lost in Translation, K-Pax, Dogma, La Vita è bella, Fight Club, Dark City, Mulholland Drive, I (heart) Huckabees, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Contact, Monty Python's Life of Brian, etc. Oh, and there is a special place in my heart of sci-fi B flicks. Like the one with those light aliens.

My tastes are fairly eclectic so I usually say 'What sounds good.'. My favourite songs, though, are Alive - Edwin, Ich Will - Rammstein, Music Sounds Better With You - Stardust, New Soul - Yael Naim, Baila Me - Gypsy Kings, Thirty-Three - Smashing Pumpkins, Glory Box - Portishead, Stuck in the Middle With You - Steeler's Wheel, Dreamer - Jenn Grant, Imagine - John Lennon, The Ocean - Led Zeppelin, Don't Think Twice (It's Alright) - Bod Dylan, Dream On - Aerosmith, Mannish Boy - Muddy Waters, One Day - Matisyahu, The Littlest Birds - The Be Good Tanyas, In the Meantime - Spacehog.

Like music, my tastes in food are also fairly eclectic. Specifics are my affinity for blue steaks, chocolate, cheese, and habaneros. I like my food as wholesome and from scratch as possible. I love Korean, Mexican, Sashimi, Vietnamese, Ethiopian. I think I would love Indian, although I haven't yet had any that was well prepared.

I want more favourites, like my favourite paintings Young Girl at Window - Berthe Morisot and Fireside Angel - Max Ernst, favourite drink - daiquiri, favourite goths - ostro, favourite diacritic - umlaut, favourite flower - buttercup.

The six things I could never do without

My fry pan for lätty.
My passport for travelling.
A practice bottle & tin for showing off (doubt I'll compete now).
My bottle of Le Fee's Absinth for sipping.
My back pack and bush hat for the wandering I do.
My laptop for school.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

My current or next pet project. I do think a fair bit about behaviour, the mind, perception. Sometimes about ethics. Often about odd things I notice or obtuse questions.

On a typical Friday night I am

My personality (and often my schedule) is not conducive to routine so I can't say what I do on a typical Friday night. Given the opportunity I do like catching some live music and having a pint, or going up to my dad's camp, or going over to a friend's to play Rockband, or sitting in on a lecture.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

My sole weakness is jigsaw puzzles. Given a puzzle, I won't sleep, eat or drink until I have put it back together. I can't help it...
