New Address

Sep 21, 2010

Since I pointed out my site's URL over three years ago in the first post here, which was just written to get some more profile completion points, I should make note of the change now as well: There's a new Cav's Place out there, this time sitting nicely in its own home.

OKC is becoming annoying...

What's up with the changes for the sake of change people? Lots of sites seem to have been affected by this lately, it's like it's some kind of virus going around. Trying to draw in new users due to the "economic crisis"? Here's a newsflash for you: Changes may or may not make your site more appealing for new users, but, unless requested, they almost certainly will piss off the existing ones!
And speaking of that, why is my profile just 30% complete now? I know it's not actually complete, but I think something got bugged, was at 80% earlier today...

Oh, and speaking of the economic crisis, here's an eye opener.

I still say that whoever is interested is already aware of the problems and trying to do their share, and whoever isn't now won't be after this either, but let's see what happens. The response seems pretty good so far at least.

OKCupid is really well made. Never meant to stick around for more than a week now, but it keeps you interested even when you don't want to meet people. User tests, moderating newly submitted match questions, reading profiles of those who wrote a certain test or a certain question and, what seems to have grabbed my interest the most, reading the journal entries that it puts on my homescreen.
Ok, so many of those aren't exactly interesting, but seems like it found a few that I like to read and are updated often. So here I am reading entries and posting comments. Not what I had in mind but uh well, keeps the mind occupied for a few more minutes per day I guess.
Well, there's that and the fact that I'm waiting for something, but still...

And I guess this would be my third post of 1000+ characters, to get my profile to 95%? Don't exactly see what do journal entries have to do with profile completeness, but if they say so...
Speaking of which, anybody willing to MatchMe (opens in new window/tab) to get to 96%? :) (And I really have no idea why this counts towards profile! Find it silly actually.)

Apparently it doesn't want only one 1000+ character entry. No problem, I can come up with another :)

I have something else to show everybody, because I think rather few people know about it so far: Idopia (opens in new window/tab). I know, I know, name choice wasn't the best but I don't think you can convince them to change it now. I hear it will be better promoted soon, wondering what that will bring.
Anyway, great idea, but it can get only as far as the active members take it, so take a look, but I'd kindly ask you not to join only to make trouble. Of course, if you intend to make trouble you won't care about me asking you not to, but what more could I do?
An no, I'm not in any way, shape or form affiliated with them (not that I'd be earning anything by it even if I was), just think it's a great idea and deserves all the help it can get.

There we go, second 1000+ character entry, and once again I actually said something, wasn't about nothing! Told you it wasn't a problem to come up with this :)

Just to get it out of the way from the beginning, my blog is here (don't worry, opens in a new window/tab).

So I gather I'm expected to write a post that's at least 1000 characters long. Ok, I can type 1000 characters worth of nothing, don't you worry about that.

Just logged on after a year and 7 months and in just a few days I finished all the new questions that have been added since then, took some more tests, retook others, had an unexpected really nice thing happen and am now getting bored.
Ok, the reason I stopped logging on in the first place had nothing to do with boredom and everything to do with Andra (since I couldn't handle talking to her anymore, considering the situation, I broke contact with almost everyone else as well), but, since I still don't want to meet new people, I'll most likely stop coming here once again in the next few days.
Just consider that I only passed through. I might do so again at some point in the future, who knows, but it will probably be a rather long time until then.

There we go, all done, and it wasn't even about nothing!
