My self-summary
I'm a person who's more interesting to talk to than to read about. While I haven't yet led a scintillating life worthy of an E! True Hollywood story, I almost always can contribute something to the conversation, and I'd like to think that's worth something. I love to learn the facts and stories behind the details of our daily lives (who invented utensils? When did we start using them?), which I think can make a boring day much more interesting. I'm a bit like Sheldon from Big Bang Theory in this way- but I'm a lot easier to live with than him, I promise! I also have Asperger's Syndrome, a detail which I think is worth mentioning because it plays a considerable role in my life.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm gunning for a career in languages of some kind- interpreting, linguistics, or translating. I have a great fascination with languages and spend much of my free time practicing Spanish. For a couple years I devoted myself to the study of botany, but when I realized that my brain isn't really built for science, I switched to something that came more naturally to me. I've always been one for words- translating them into a different language is a fantastic challenge. I'm currently conversational in Spanish, and, time willing, I will attempt to learn basic Hmong.

Currently I work in an assisted living position, helping two very cool people with severe physical disabilities.
I’m really good at
I'm a decent writer, but I have a lot of difficulty deciding WHAT to write. I may be a better editor than writer, to be honest.
I love to cook, especially with vegetables (I make a mean omelet).
I work well with children (though I tend to be too soft with them).
I'm good with animals- especially rats. I also can write pretty good essays. Oh, and making flashcards. I make a lot of flashcards.
The first things people usually notice about me
My height- I'm nearly 6 ft. I used to be mistaken for a third-grader when I was in kindergarten. Also, my bright red hair and thick glasses. And my bubbly personality.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My top ten favorite movies are, in this order (this list is subject to occasional change): Lawrence of Arabia, No Country for Old Men, O'Horten, High Fidelity, The Aviator, Strangers in Good Company, Persepolis, Almost Famous, Jerry Maguire, and Mary and Max.

As for music, I tend to gravitate towards oldies (especially from the '70s- lots of happy music, really miserable decade), but I do enjoy some current music. I consider my tastes eclectic, but I usually gravitate more towards accessible music than anything super avant-garde.

For TV: New Girl, Mythbusters, Seinfeld, M*A*S*H, Futurama, Scrubs, Top Gear, Slings and Arrows, 30 Rock, Daria, Downton Abbey, The Office, Friends, Orange is the New Black, Transparent

Food: I really like stir-fried veggies, with a couple of eggs on top. We have 4 suburban chickens, so you can bet our eggs are fresh.

Books: I'm a bit too ADD to be able to finish any one book- however, I love magazines, newspapers, and interesting online articles. I try to spend more time learning other languages than reading things in English. I do love Harry Potter, though- of course.
The six things I could never do without
In no particular order:
1)Music
2)My family
3)Pets
4)Words
5)Good entertainment
6)Food and water (whoops that's 7)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Languages (I translate common English phrases into Spanish whenever possible- gotta stay sharp!), the environment, my future, society, animal welfare, and why people do the seemingly crazy things they do.
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out at home with my family (I live with my mom, my stepmom Lisa, my sister, and 14 beloved pets).
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Since I turned 17 I've been struggling on and off with some anxiety and depression. However, I'm medicated now and although I still have moments, overall I'm happy to report that I'm pretty damn... happy. I consider myself extremely lucky.
You should message me if
Make me laugh! Or make me think. If you can make me laugh AND think, you might be "the one".

Alternatively, you could message me if you are a "wonderer"- somebody who questions "why?" about everything. I'm not necessarily looking for an activist, but it's very important to me that my partner care at least a little about environmental issues, animal rights, and humanitarian causes. What I'm trying to say is, I'm a bleedin' heart liberal and I'm looking for another.

Also note that I am pretty new to the dating process, so bear with me here. I really have no experience in the boudoir, so by all means, feel free to lead.

Here are some more passions of mine (maybe you don't have anything else in common with me... but if you love anything listed below, message me anyway so we can gush about it together!):

Green and oolong tea- or any kind of tea, really;
Parrots and rats- my favorite pets (though of course I love cats and dogs, too);
Billy Joel, Fleet Foxes, and classical music (especially Tchaikovsky Bruckner and Brahms!);
Comic strips (like Calvin and Hobbes and Foxtrot, not graphic novels- though if you're into those that's cool too)
Going for long walks;
Cracked.com, MentalFloss.com, and iwastesomuchtime
Si simplemente quisieras practicar un poco de espanol!
