My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
After several years in the insurance industry, I decided that I'd like to maybe someday get a job in an industry where I wouldn't come home every day feeling more than a little dirty and that it was time for a total career change. While I was at it, I thought it might be fun to get my Master's degree and see a brand new city, so I pulled up roots and moved to LA in late August. Although I grew up in Orange County, wandering through endless fields of shopping malls and dodging the packs of ravenous Real Housewives (TM), I am new to the city itself and feel that getting out and meeting some new people would be in everyone's best interests, especially society's, since I'm a pretty rad guy, minus my predilection for getting sunburned easily.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
According to the back of my pre-workout drink, which I greedily guzzle every day before I go to the gym and consists of various psychotropic Chinese brain powders and the finest caffeine, I am utilizing the power of said powders to unlock the full power of my genetic potential. So I've got that going for me!

More seriously, I recently returned to school full-time and it's been an interesting experience so far-it's amazing to see how things have changed, technology wise, over the past few years.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I know my way around a computer keyboard and I'm a fantastically fast reader, skills that come in handy and once allowed me to be the greatest writer of boring reports in my whole department back when I was in the insurance business, some of which were even read by other human beings.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My exalted and splendid eyebrows. They have the power to reduce the hearts of hardened warriors to those of mewling babes and give me the authority to tame dragons.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I recently decided that this section tends to make people's eyes glaze over and is really best discussed in person. I love reading history books more than pretty much anyone you know, watching movies about elves and space battles and space elves, like listening to angry songs about social injustice, and have no dietary restrictions to speak of. I enjoy books and movies and will happily discuss either with you if you are so inclined.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1.) Books
2.) Dogs
4.) Emoticons ;)
5.) Coffee !!!
6.) Amazon Prime
7.) Podcasts/Audiobooks
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Healthcare reform. History. Puppies (mostly golden retrievers to be perfectly honest, but I am willing to give other breeds a chance). Wonderful vacations to Europe. Space.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Once upon a time, my great uncle, a veteran of the Pacific theater in World War 2, told me something that I'll always remember. He was a man who had lived through three wars, the Great Depression, and had a chest covered in medals for bravery but when I asked him what one piece of advice I should keep in mind as I went off to school, he told me that the key to a successful society was for those with a little bit more to share with those who have a little bit less.

Also, that the best way to get chilled beer in the southwest pacific is to load up a bomber with booze and fly above 10,000 feet for 20 minutes.

These are the two rules I try and live my life by.

This has nothing to do with the question prompt. At least I didn't say that I sometimes go out and yet sometimes stay in!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Every day before I leave my apartment, I put myself through a little ritual that I call the Rocky. After I pound down a half dozen liquid raw eggs while muttering to my nonexistent pet turtles with a faux Italian accent, and after that I hop into the shower and start serenading my neighbors with a stirring rendition of Eye of the Tiger, and, on special occasions, Hearts on Fire. I find that this puts me in the right mood to take on the day and also to end the cold war through the power of boxing, although this habit may be tangentially related to me having to move 1,376 times in the past couple years.

Probably just a coincidence though.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
Personally I think everyone should message me, I'm a pretty cool guy. But I might be biased. The Like/Star rating minigame is fun and all but it's like playing some sort of crazy video game sometimes so it can pay off to be a bit forward. Here's an icebreaker: If you could hang out with any historical figure ever, who would you pick and why?

I am interested in women of all backgrounds and enjoy receiving messages from pretty much anyone. I'm quite liberal, politically speaking, and this is very important to me, but other than that I don't feel I have any deal breakers.
