My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
To summarize me in one sentence: I guess I'm kind of a geek. But I really do have a variety of hobbies and interests, and whether I'm trying a new local beer, testing a new food recipe out on my sister and her family, watching a new anime, checking out a museum in a city I've never been to, or shooting stills with my DSLR, I like to think that I'm learning something about people, design, culture, or technique. I've probably never been referred to as a "social butterfly," but I'm at my best when I'm given a few good questions and my audience isn't offended if I joke or answer sarcastically -- I think most people need to take everything a bit less seriously. Anyway, I've seen a lot of profiles that reference honesty. Personally, I don't see the point in lying to people -- honestly, it's more effort than it's worth -- and frankly, that's how I was raised. I've got a picture in my head of what I want in life, though it's really more of a direction than anything written in stone, and I'm constantly working on getting things to a state that I'll be more happy with.

It would be great to meet someone who likes to travel, tries new things, and shares their experiences. Also, I'd love to meet someone who laughs a lot and is able to make other people laugh, has an appetite for seeing and doing things, is able to think clearly and reason for themselves, and is beautiful inside and out. If you'd like to know anything else, please ask!
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I write amazing software for an engineering company. I plan to continue doing so until I get bored or something better comes along.

As far as goals are concerned, I've accomplished a lot: I finished college, got a master's degree, got a decent job, and bought a house. Things in general are really looking good right now.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I make pretty damn good chili. Math is easy for me. I'm a pretty decent drummer. I don't misspell very often. I dunno, I have random skills and talents of different magnitudes that I guess I'm "good" at. Writing about myself is not one of those talents.

I'm pretty quiet... until you get me talking.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I dunno about favorite books, but the last thing I read was Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson. I'm pretty excited about Sanderson's Stormlight Archive series, but at the same time I'm a pretty impatient reader, so I'm in the process of finding new things to read.

I don't have favorite movies so much as favorite genres: anything to do with samurai or kung-fu is cool, anime is good, comedy is good, and sci-fi is excellent. I like most visually-stimulating movies, just give me a semi-plausible plot and I'm happy.

Similar to movies, I'm more of a genre guy for music. Classic rock, alternative, a little bit of pop, and some harder rock or metal just about describes my tastes.

I like to eat out. I like to cook. I like food.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Family, friends, music, college football, my iPhone, and my camera
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
usually bored. What's that? You're bored too? You should totally contact me.

On the other hand, I have been known to attend happy hours with friends and/or coworkers when everyone's schedules align, or just whatever comes up.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I look incredibly handsome when I wear my glasses, but I hate wearing them. I'm like a reverse-Superman/Clark Kent.
