I am adventurous, easy going, and a kid at heart.
My Self-Summary
I don't like trying to represent myself in these little boxes, but
I'll give it a try. : ) I just moved to Boulder this year and I
love it. I'm pursuing a master's degree in
piano at CU. I'm a shy person, but
friendly at the same time. I can be really silly when you get to
know me (in a good way, I think...). I'm pretty laid back and easy
going. I like to try many different things, usually all at once, so
I am often scattered because of this. I suppose it's a good thing
that I'm not one-dimensional, though. I really enjoy traveling and
trying to learn foreign languages. I am sort of skeptical about
these kinds of sites, but decided to try it for fun. I will do a
better job describing myself later...
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a grad student in piano...trying to become a better and more
knowledgable musician so that I can use my talents to the best of
my abilities. I'm teaching group piano and private lessons. My goal
is to eventually finish with a doctoral degree in piano
performance...maybe I'll stay here for my doctorate if I continue
to like Boulder and CU as much as I do.
I’m really good at
music (supposedly),
foreign
languages, writing, being adventurous/open minded, learning new
things quickly, some kinds of partner/
ballroom dancing (I don't know
if I'd say *really* good...), listening,
cooking/
baking when I take the time to do it,
DDR (yep I'm a dork),
Boggle,
procrastinating (I'm a little too good at that),
teaching, playing music with
others
The first things people usually notice about me
I've never been able to figure that out, but I can try to
guess...physically, that I'm tall, I have a nice smile...otherwise,
you might notice that I'm pretty reserved and quiet to begin with.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
a. the
Harry
Potter books--I love them, Series of Unfortunate Events, Anne
of Green Gables (childhood favorite), Oscar Wilde...other than that
I have a hard time picking favorites so I'll just name some other
recent ones: The Life of Pi, Zen in the Art of Archery, Bridget
Jones's Diary, The Poisonwood Bible, The Hobbit...there are lots of
more serious books and books in general that I really want to read,
but I never seem to have much time for reading anymore...not what I
want to read anyway
b. so many favorite movies...be warned, I'm a hopeless romantic:
Love Actually, Moonstruck, When Harry Met Sally, Father of the
Bride, Amelie, Austin Powers, Kill Bill, Office Space, Wayne's
World, Napoleon Dynamite, Finding Nemo, The Wizard of Oz...many
others
c. a ton of
classical--it's very hard for me to
pick favorites, some
jazz, lots of
world music--especially Irish
(Dervish, Altan), Indian; Elvis, Carole King, Ben Folds, John
Denver, some musicals...hmm I'll work on this more later
d. I love food...and I guess I'll include beverages...
breakfast is my favorite
meal--pancakes, waffles, etc.; Chicago style deep dish pizza (my
favorite EVER is Lou Malnati's), Indian (boo, I miss Krishna, my
favorite Indian place in Cincinnati : ( ), Italian, Mediterranean,
sushi, Thai, Korean, dark chocolate (by itself or any dessert that
involves chocolate), coffee, different kinds of beers, wine...and
basically I'll try anything new
The six things I could never do without
my family, friends, music, coffee, sleep (although I try to do
without it sometimes...but it doesn't work out too well, hehe),
sunshine--good thing I moved to Boulder. : )
I spend a lot of time thinking about
love, the future, the past, my family and friends, how I can't
believe I'm a grad student, how I need to stop answering questions
on OKCupid and get work done. : )
On a typical Friday night I am
finishing up teaching piano lessons, relaxing after a stressful
school week, practicing if I feel especially nerdy or have a
concert/recital/lesson coming up, watching a movie (either at home
or out to a movie with a friend), trying to learn
tango, staying up ridiculously late
for no reason even though I need sleep!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
Well...let's see, I guess one thing is that I'm really very shy, so
I generally wait for guys to ask me out. Also, I talk to my fish
sometimes. : D
You should message me if
you think I might be cool, you know me, you're nice, you appreciate
music, you're not a stalker (any combination of these things of
course)
