My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Oh, hello. I didn't see you there.

Very basic facts: I came from elsewhere(s) and am now here. I.e. East Asia to the Midwest to the Northeast to the South and back to the far.

I love being interested in all kinds of things and want to know it all. Opinionated but charmingly so (sometimes).

Slightly more Beatles than Stones. But Paul wrote some stinkers, let's be real here.

Good-bad, but not evil.

OK, this is like the verbal equivalent of a selfie and I hate selfies (though I enjoy being self-aware). So maybe the other sections will be more helfpul in giving you some idea of what I'm about, gentle reader.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Daytime = directing interactive product development. (Currently this involves regular travel up to Boston, so if you've got any tips and tricks re: that city, feel free to send.)

Othertime = swimming, surfing, composing and recording madrigals, laughing at/weeping for humanity because of...things on the internet, dj'ing very occasionally, kara-oke, Words With Friends, making mixes and putting them up on Soundcloud, dreaming of the next meal...or trip...or meals on the next trip.

I'm getting pretty good on the ukelele following a recent trip to Oahu.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
doodling, imitating various singers*, puns and silly wordplay, writing purple prose.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My hair/sideburns, my tan (what can I say, my melanin really takes to sunshine), my mole (is it really a "beauty mark" on men?), my je ne sais quoi. Some people think I smell good. Others think I'm Japanese. Other than that, I've no idea what kinds of creepy things other people are noticing and it's probably for the best.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I don't know why I see so many profiles that take the time to list favorite books, movies, shows, food...and no music. Explain yourselves.

Books: Confessions Of An Economic Hit Man, Without Feathers, Please Kill Me, The Philip K. Dick Reader, Lipstick Traces, Blood Meridien, Siddhartha, 2666, Mythologies, Pure Drivel, The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, Just Kids and Superfreakonomics. Recently read 1984 (not quite as upbeat as I remember it being from high school...) and Brave New World. Currently reading We by Yevgeny Zamyatin.

Movies: Throne Of Blood, Harold And Maude, Drive, Airplane!, Glengarry Glenn Ross, 2001, Tron, This Is Spinal Tap, Blade Runner, Idiocracy, North Shore, The Road Warrior, Wet Hot American Summer, Out Of The Past, Groundhog Day, Chinatown. Recently enjoyed Her (one thumb up) and Blue Is The Warmest Color (though I did find the sex scenes to be a bit much...also, one of the main characters kept reminding me of young Christopher Walken).

Television: High Maintenance, Breaking Bad, Black Mirror, Mad Men, Burning Love, Archer, Party Down, Seinfeld, Friday The 13th: The Series, Jam, Children's Hospital, I'm Alan Partridge, Golden Girls, Newhart, Curb, Dr. Katz, Kids In The Hall, That Mitchell And Webb Look, True Detective.

Music: Kelela, Fleetwood Mac, Black Sabbath, Mitch Murder, Earth Wind & Fire, Skinny Puppy, Depeche Mode, Kate Bush, Holy Other, Cocteau Twins, Marvin Gaye, Steely Dan, Todd Terje, Roy Orbison, Classixx, Cameo, Diiv, New Order, Mac DeMarco, Disclosure.

Food: Ramen, Thai, Malaysian, Indonesian, Korean, American, Vietnamese, Chinese pulled noodles, doubles, certain hamburgers, Indian (esp. cabstand), falafel, doubles, pizza, etc. Will travel for (allegedly) great food, but not so willing anymore to stand in huge lines for it with a zillion other people.

Other: I've been enjoying this podcast called Analyze Phish, where one comedian who is a Phish fan tries to convince another comedian that Phish is actually ok. Hilarity ensues as they say. Newest favorite is U Talkin U2 To Me?, where two U2 fans come together to sometimes discuss U2 albums.

Others include Comedy Bang Bang and How Did This Get Made?.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Music, humor, friendship, family, integrity, and some kind of 24-hour convenience store within a few blocks' walking distance.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
When this godforsaken winter will end/stop teasing us with spring weather.

How listicles are possibly ruining online journalism, and feeling bad about enjoying some of them (although I think 10 items per list is quite enough). Also the "review as conversation between 2 or more people" style of writing.

Malaysian Airlines.

The Brooklyn-as-brand phenomenon...ugh.

What TV show I should emotionally invest in post-True Detective (and what reddit sub to go with that viewing).
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
thanking Dog it's Friday.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I will watch the shit out of some cat videos, especially if it involves cats and dolphins. (Dog ones too)

Also I never found Anchorman to be all that funny. There, I said it! Whew, feels good to get that off my chest. But I think even less of Family Guy. Yes, I can be a snob, but you can't like everything.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
you have a sense of humor (tending towards the absurdist/dark/sarcastic end of the spectrum), you like to eat (omnivorously but not without standards), you like to be active, you appreciate the creative arts, you like to dance, you have loves and hates and passions. You have a good to great relationship with your parents. I think the more we have in common, the better, though I don't believe that a carbon copy would be that exciting.

No woo girls.

Hopefully you don't say the phrase "Anything but country and hiphop" on your profile, or in your soul for that matter. I think those genres have some fine tunes, actually.

Finally, you acknowledge that while in the short term, some attention is ultimately do want to leave this site. (It's possible, I've escaped before.) Even if this all looks good on paper (interest- or percentage-wise), chemistry is key. So you'd be willing to dispense with the prolonged emailing (I'm not looking for penpals) and get to meeting face to face to see if it works.
