My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Well this should be interesting…

As my best friend puts it: "You're a much better talker than you are a writer!" In person I am known as the guy who can talk to absolutely anybody - in high school if I was bored I would walk outside to the first person I saw and introduce myself. It's a skill I've found immensely useful in college...though not quite as advisable in certain parts of San Francisco...

I am a driven workaholic, and yes, it's possible to be a workaholic magician. I'm down at Fisherman's Wharf entertaining a crowd with jokes and tricks most days - it's what I love to do. There is unfortunate footage of me at 8 years old running up to my mother and trying to tell a joke...let's just not go there.

As my best friend will attest, I could go for hours about magic and entertaining. I do multiple shows a day and if I am not working at the Pier, odds are I will find a way to do a magic trick for a stranger at some point (I met my old roommate by catching her eye across the room and pulling a stream of playing cards from my mouth…I never claimed to be normal)!

I am on this site for one simple reason: I work too much. My social life has begun to take a backseat to my career: I've seen other entertainers do this and they end up very lonely. I thought this would be a good way to actively meet some new people outside of my audiences and just as a normal person, not the guy pulling a ten foot straw out of a small paper bag…

So, right now, I am going to do something unheard of for me: I am going to talk about myself as something other than a magician. Here goes...

I have this little quirk that I find it easier to talk to a group of strangers than to talk to one close friend. I am a sucker for old Elvis movies no matter how bad the acting. I am a blue-eyed, white-skinned, native American man from a down-to-earth country family, yet somehow I have what my English-born best friend calls a British sense of humor (If you watch Black Books just stop now and message me: we will get along just fine). I am a big believer in self improvement. I want to expand my horizons. I am working through a reading list of Greek tragedies and other literary classics (my favorite so far is Moliere's Don Juan).

I have a psychotic cat who will steal any and all dates I bring home by suddenly turning on the charm. He is a crazy cartoon character, but if there is a girl who needs comforting suddenly he is all cuddles and purrs...until they leave, at which point he is suddenly hanging from the ceiling screaming "HOW THE HELL DID I GET UP HERE?"

I love eastern Philosophy and will rant to no end about how much I hate Western Philosophy.

I play guitar and would give my left leg to be able to sing.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Lets, work, work and oh yeah - more work. I do a lot of performing down near Fisherman's Wharf and am currently working on my stage show, which will be premiering in the winter months. I am determined to succeed in my life and I love to have people around me with similar mentalities.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Dealing with people. I can talk about most anything to anyone.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Typically I meet people in very strange ways. I like to make life interesting so it could be a multitude of things. If you have read my profile you know how I met my previous roommate - and that is just one of many fun (or at least I like to think so) stories! But if I haven't had the opportunity to initiate it is either the fact that I have to walk with a cane or some random comments about my giant blue eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I could easily cop out on this answer because I pride myself on variety. I like everything ranging from Disney classics to modern mind warp movies such as Inception and Fight Club.

I like to try new food as much as possible. I have a lot of international friends who expose me to their culture's cuisine - from chickens' feet to authentic Ramen noodles.

Actually, this might be easier: I will list some of my favorites, and if anything hits a chord with you let me know! i tend to be a lot more forgiving than most and have many more favorites than I do things I hate (forever the optimist).

Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
A deck of cards
My 20s newsboy hat
My crazy cat Dexter
Someone to laugh at my magic tricks and cheesy jokes
My giant collection of magic books
A copy of Sophocles' Oedipus, so I can read it over and over again and wonder why I feel the need to keep torturing myself
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Magic and performing. The most random things give me new ideas for possible jokes or even illusions.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Sadly I work all day Friday: I typically get home around eight and then collapse into a giant puddle, at which point my cat decides to plant himself on top of the lump that once was his owner and we both go to sleep.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I try to keep personal things off of the internet (okay fine, that does sound like a cop out) but I'm sure I can think of something...

My best friend and I once got a noise complaint and the cops were called because we were talking about Greek tragedy too loudly (this is a point of pride with her, but we were in my apartment and the manager was PISSED). It's wildly nerdy but not something I tell many people.

Oh and I have an invisible pet zebra named Mortimer. He likes blueberry pancakes.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You get why my invisible zebra is named Mortimer.

You can teach me something about art, science or theater (I love to talk and learn about classics. If you can teach me something about anything from Shakespeare to Sophocles I cannot guarantee that I will keep up but I will certainly be enthralled and will ask A LOT of questions).

You can tell me where the quote, "As an ancient Greek haberdasher once said: 'Euripides, Eumenides!'" is from (and understand why it's funny).

You have similar taste in books or movies.

Most of all if you are willing to have an intelligent and challenging conversation. I spend my life doing the talking on stage, so what I am really looking for is someone with something interesting enough to say that it'll shut me up.
