I was born and raised in Houston and moved here after grad school for work. I am Texan but no I don't have an accent. I still feel a connection to the state and have many fond memories, however I'm also Californian.

In general I'm a pretty laid back person who doesn't get worked up very much. I'm also very friendly and up for doing fun stuff but definitely appreciate my downtime. I love maps and geek out on city planning issues and play board games. I love to go to concerts and sometimes do outdoor things when the mood strikes. I can also appreciate a good dessert and like to cook when I have a bit of time. It would be nice to meet someone who enjoys similar things, but not necessarily everything! Gotta have some differences or else its not as fun to needle them a bit.

I also love sports. I was at the Olympics this summer and love watching my Longhorns on Saturdays in the fall as well as the Giants, Niners, and Spurs/Everton in the EPL.

I'm working on fixing all the problems we have with moving around cities. Trying to figure out why people are so tied to their cars and spending more $ than they have to on movement. I don't think you should have to perform some heroic duty every day to take the bus or train if its not convenient. Cities are organisms, and instead of a balanced diet, we've been clogging the arteries with filth. Some good doctor should get on that...

Listening to what people have to say. Always willing to lend an ear and help. I'm also fiercely loyal. I still hang out with my friends from high school and stick to my colleagues that matter to me.

Perhaps you should tell me.

Food: Homemade Ravioli, Sushi, Indian, Burritos, any food really.

Books: Anything to do with urban planning, David Sedaris, Michael Pollan.

Transit planning and map making. Thinking about how everything in cities fits together. I blog, a lot. Kind of an obsession but its related to work so at least it has some usefulness and isn't a complete waste of my time.

Getting sushi then having a beer at the local pub. I like the fact that there are such things as third places. Places where you feel welcome that aren't home or work. If you can walk into an establishment and they know your name, you my friend have it made.

It wouldn't be so private then would it? :)

You're serious about this. I'm really looking for someone with whom I have chemistry with. It's hard to find, but you'll know it when it happens.
