I grew up listening to NPR and being allowed only one, pre-chosen, hour of television a day. As a result, I miss a lot of references, still love NPR, but can also spend way too much time watching really terrible television.
One time, I created a new system of time that worked on a 100/75/50/25 scale. There were new minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years. My username is what would have been (should be) one of the 4 days of the week.
A few months ago, I converted half my room to a fort, complete with a t.v. that functions as a fireplace, 3 windows (one a real window), shelves and storage. It was made of boxes, sheets, paper, tape, nails, string, and tacks.
