The truth is the authors I know best these days are the ones that come out with books every wednesday on New Comic Book Day. Some of my favorite comics are Matt Fraction's Casanova series and his work on the Immortal Iron Fist and The Umbrella Academy which was written by the lead singer of My Chemical Romance but I can never remember his name. Recently I've fallen in love with Mike Mignola's early Hellboy stuff.

Of course I also like the classics by Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman and Frank Miller (his early stuff).

My old bartender gave me these Chelsea Cain books to read and so I've been reading a lot by female authors recently. I'm not sure what the difference is between how male authors write and female authors write but I'm convinced there is one.

As a teenager I read Way of the Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman and, dramatic as it sounds, the book changed my life. Still a big Millman fan. I would say his writing has greatly affected my 'spirituality.'

Tao of Pooh by Benjamin Hoff is one of my favorite books as well.

American Gods by Neil Gaiman and Dune by Frank Herbert are up there too.

Oh, and I can't get enough of Charlie Huston.
