My self-summary
I'm just your normal, run-of-the-mill 34 year old undergraduate looking to have fun with someone.

It's true. After some serious setbacks in my life I'm back in school to finally earn my degree. After attending a community college upstate I transferred to NYU where I've been for the last year. It's been an absolutely amazing experience. I'm taught by insanely smart people and my classmates are diverse and brilliant. But, as you can imagine, people that major in math/CS tend to not be the most social. And, the addition of a 10+ year age gap can make things difficult for a new adult student who has very few friends in a new city.

So, for the time being, I explore the city and have fun with my hobbies. I picked up photography from my former roommates and absolutely fell in love with it. I bought a used Diana F+ and two boxes of Fuji film off ebay. Mix that with a lot of free time over the summer and the result? An 8" stack of photos and several undeveloped rolls of film. I could really use somes frames and a large-format printer.

I love to geek out about movies, science/math, comics, art, design, etc.

"There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."
What I’m doing with my life
Falling off my skateboard.

Spending my days studying mathematics, programming, art, design, and french. The last one surprised me, too.

Spending my nights re-learning the guitar, catching up on blogs/sites I've been ignoring, and doing all the school work I didn't accomplish during the day.

Trying to become less serious, more fun, and consistently intelligent.

(Currently, succeeding in two out of the three.)
I’m really good at
Spelling and remembering ridiculously trivial facts about ridiculously trivial things, and...falling.
The first things people usually notice about me
That I don't look my age. Then realize that I don't act my age, either.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music: Chelsea Light Moving, Dead Milkmen, Nirvana, Dead Kennedy's, Sonic Youth, Elliott Smith, Man or Astro-Man?, Pavement, Violent Femmes, Gary Numan, Beck, Wu Tang, Jefferson Airplane, Iron Maiden, Mountain Goats, Descendents, Screaming Females, Metallica, The Doors, Agent Orange, 80's/90's rap, etc, etc, etc.... I listen to tons of stuff.

TV: Black Books, Children's Hospital, MST3k, Arrested Development, Kids in the Hall, Firefly, Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, etc.

Movies: I am HUGE film buff. If you also like movies we will definitely get along. Current favorites: Cloud Atlas, Big Trouble in Little China, LOTR (just finished the extended edition marathon to get over the disappointment that was The Hobbit).

Books: I love reading pulp sci-fi, especially short stories.

My favorite sci-fi authors are Sturgeon, Heinlein, Douglas Adams, Vonnegut, etc. Otherwise, I like DFW, George Saunders, Borges, and classic authors (Hawthorne, Poe, Conrad, etc).

Currently reading: The Sirens of Titan (Vonnegut) Martian Time-Slip (Phillip K Dick) and The Aleph (Borges).

Food: Anything that doesn't contain gluten and dairy. Also have some seriously sensitive acid reflux, so I'm having a great time dealing with that, too. But, I'm always eager to hear new recipes and try new dishes!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
...whatever code I'm currently stuck on.
...how to make deep, meaningful games that are fun, meaningful, and emotional.
...what I will do when I graduate?
...when the fuck will I graduate?
....
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I've tried to read Infinite Jest three times. Can't get past the first hundred pages.

I suck at math.

I really dislike people who say they are fluent in another language when in reality they just speak it kinda well. Tip: if you can't help a college student with their "simple" homework, then you are not fluent in that language.

I read profiles from the bottom up. That does include looking at pictures last. I won't deny this takes a little self-control.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 18–40
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
You like punk music and want to go to shows. Or, you're into art, games, design, literature, or movies. Or, you're interesting(ed).

If your idea for a good time involves something other than seeing the inside of a bar.
