"You've got to jump off cliffs all the time and build your wings on the way down." --Ray Bradbury
Hey there! Thanks for visiting my profile. My name is Chris and I, like you, have a story. I was born Canadian, but moved to the States when I was young and was raised in a small town about 30 minutes south-west of here. After graduating high-school I spent 6 years in the U.S. Navy working within special warfare and as a search and rescue swimmer as I traveled all over the world, discovered myself, and tried to make a difference. After getting out in 2009, I spent some time traveling out west (Phoenix, Sedona, Flagstaff, Grand Canyon, Moab, Denver, and others) tending bar and exploring before moving back to WNC to finish my undergraduate education, be close to family, and grow some roots. I yearn for new experiences, growth, and exploration on every axis.
I'm an avid explorer and traveler--whether it be a short road trip or backpacking through Europe, I'm always game. I've done my fair share of traveling in North America (Savannah, Beaufort, all over N.C., Chicago, Phoenix, Moab, Denver, San Diego, Coronado, Ft. Lauderdale, Boston, Montreal, Ottawa, New York, and Windsor (Ontario); Europe (Spain, France, Italy, Sicily, Greece, Crete, Malta, and Croatia); the Middle east (all over Israel, Lebanon, Bahrain, Dubai, and Oman); and Africa (the Seychelles, Somalia, Djibouti, Kenya, and Egypt). Those were in no particular order and I probably left a few out.
I'm in my last year as an undergraduate at UNC-Asheville studying economics, philosophy, and Mandarin Chinese. I actually would have been finished last May, but fell in love with philosophy while I was attempting to learn a "grown up" job (economics). Upon graduation I plan on going to business school and perhaps graduate studies in economics concurrently. Outside of school I do economic analysis for a firm that specializes in developmental economics, swing-trade in different markets, teach martial arts, and do some consulting work for the military.
