My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm from around DC, and I'm back after a few years in Richmond & abroad. I work for a company that does tutoring and enrichment programs for elementary/middle schoolers in northern Virginia. If you ever wondered just how spoiled kids can be, and just how ridiculous their parents can be, my job makes me well-equipped to tell you. That might sound kind of negative but I'm actually a foolish optimist and a true believer in the goodness of human beings.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Teaching, trying to get rich selling make-your-own-gin kits, fantasizing about moving back to the Middle East (or anywhere, or at least my next vacation).
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Cooking, making drinks, drinking drinks, exploring new cities, pondering contentious questions
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books/Authors: The Master and Margarita, 100 Years of Solitude, The Man Who Was Thursday, Hunter S. Thompson, Mahmoud Darwish, Baudelaire, Salman Rushdie... Tolkien. Nonfiction about the past or the future. Fiction about the future, if it's thought-provoking. Calvin and Hobbes.

Music: Budos Band, Valerie June, Y.A.S., Chromeo, David Bowie, Gogol Bordello, sometimes ridiculous stadium rock. Garishly patriotic music from other countries (it's fascinating).

Food: Good cheese, weird fruits, weird meats. Anything that came from the sea. Suspicious street food in other countries. Anything Peruvian, Thai, Arab, Greek, French, Korean, or Malaysian. Anything I've never tried before. Rye, bourbon, gin, rum, IPAs and stouts, coffee.

Movies: Gattaca, Dr. Strangelove, The Seventh Seal, Alien & Aliens, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Clue, Indiana Jones (Raiders and Last Crusade only, please), The Thief of Baghdad, The Burden of Dreams, Disney's Jungle Book.

TV: X-Files forever!
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Dogs
Old books
Cast iron skillets
Spirituous liquor
Winter
This is some cliche shit, but... my passport
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The things our crappy US news media never covers
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
20% cocktails, 20% new restaurant, 20% beers, 20% reading, 10% camping, 10% loafing

The percentages above sound roughly okay. I could probably go to 40-50% on the new restaurants. I am really down to explore some new restaurants.
