Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'll try to spare you all the generic - and often time
contradictory - adjectives about my personality that people seem to
include in their profile :-) I'll let you make up your own mind
to if I'm "funny, kind, and energetic", and try to stick with
concrete descriptions :-)
I think that I'm best described as a science geek. I love
and I'm proud of it! So, if you find xkcd funny, you and I will
along well :-) That said, nothing makes me happier than spending a
lazy Saturday sitting at a good bar (usually JJ Mahoney's),
chatting up the bartender and the other customers. On occasion,
I've been able to combine my two loves, like when I met two former
NASA engineers at the bar. I apparently blew them away with my
knowledge of the Space Shuttle. I guess it's not every day they
meet someone who knows where on the control panel the OMS engine
switches are located!
If online dating profiles are to be believed (and why wouldn't
be?), I'm the only person in the Seattle area who doesn't
every weekend skiing in winter and rock climbing in summer.
summer, I'm trying to change that and get outside more often during
the 10 day window during the summer where Seattle has decent
I'm open to all sorts of relationships. Primarily, I'm wanting
start with a casual romantic relationship and see where it
from there. If I find love and a long term relationship, great.
not, I'll enjoy every step of the way!
I am something, something and something.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a software devloper for a tiny little software company in
Redmond that no one has ever heard of. If you don't need me to tell
you that the previous sentence was meant as a joke, then we
probably have compatible senses of humor.
I love writing software. To me it combines the intellectual process
of engineering (trying to come up with a better solution, making
the best tradeoffs, and taking a critical eye at what you've done
to try to see where you might have missed something) with the
aestetic beauty of art. A well written piece of code is a beauitful
thing, and I'm excited when I get to be the person who creates that
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Coming up with (hopefully) funny, often inappropriate
(luckily my team at work shares my sense of humor :) ).
Driving stick. It seems like it's a vanishing skill, so I'm
proud of it.
At one point in my life, I was really good at flying
Good enough, in fact, that they let me teach others to fly!
a frightening thought!
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That I sit way too close to my monitor at work. Seriously folks, my
eyes are fine! I just read close!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Addicted to Steig Larrson's Millenium Trilogy. I love Thomas
Paine's The Age of Reason and Carl Sagan's Demon Haunted World. If
you've read Robert Ingersoll's works, you get a gold star :-). Jon
Krakauer books are a favorite, especially Into Thin Air and Under
the Banner of Heaven.
My guilty pleasure is watching cheesy horror movies. When AMC's
MonsterFest roles around in October, I'm in heaven!
I've recently added Jason Statham action movies to my list of
favorite cheesy movies. It's a newcomer, but it's showing
My favorite TV show would be Strangers with Candy. If you like this
show - let's just cut to the chase - I'd like to meet you :-)
Obviously other great shows are Family Guy, American Dad, Robot
Chicken, The Office, South Park, Dexter, Breaking Bad, Nova (and
NovaScienceNOW), and American Greed. Not a fan of reality shows. If
the show invoves 20 woman parading themselves out in front of one
guy desperately trying to get him to pick them over all the other
women, I usually want to throw stuff at the TV (and lose my faith
in humanity just a bit more).
My favorite music is whatever I happen to be in the mood for at the
time. Frank Zappa is always on the list. Indigo Girls songs (at
least the songs written by Amy) are always good. The Lonely Island
is hilarious. Ben Folds with or without the Five. Van Morrison's
album Moondance is sublime. Big Star is classic. This week I've
pretty much gone thru Cake's entire catalog.
Food is usually anything grilled. I find that grilling is a simple
way to take a basic meal and make it awesome. I go to Saporro
Teryiaki about 2-3 times a week. Tropeo in Redmond is incredible!
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I prefer to not think that there's something that I couldn't do
without, because that would mean I have an addiction.
But I do have an addiction for Jagermeister and my iPhone :-)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How e^ix can yield a sinusoidal wave.

What kind of person STILL takes Sarah Palin seriousy?
If there's anyone on OKCupid who *isn't* looking for someone with a
good sense of humor? Also, is there anyone who believes that they
do not have a good sense of humor?
Finally taking a flight across the Atlantic (seriously, I have this
dream about once a month!).
Why OKCupid keeps resetting my profile to say that I'm only looking
for new friends.
On a typical Friday night I am

Even though I'm a pilot, I'm deathly afraid of heights.
