My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
A colleague described me as "You get stuff done, have some snark, and say what you think." That kinda sums me up -- both at work and in my personal life.

Although from a big family with roots in rural upstate New York, I've been enjoying NYC and its random bits of wonderful for over 20 years. Kayaking on the Hudson, indoor or outdoor bocce ball, Carnegie Hall, biking on Randall's Island, miniature golf on Governor's Island. Jimmy Stewart at a Bryant Park movie, museum exhibits, making gingerbread houses with the kids, opera, and attempting the tango on a Hudson River pier. I aspire to be outdoorsy and recently have had a blast rediscovering cross-country skiing, but I'm no athlete. I dig public radio (WNYC, WFUV, WBGO). Yes, yes ... jeans and LBD ... but with cowboy boots and fishnets, respectively!

Setting aside the laundry list of activities and interests, what I really hope to share are values like kindness, community, hard work, curiosity and integrity.

My age and photos are accurate.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Mothering two brilliant and lovely girls (ages 8 & 12), who primarily live with me.

I transitioned a few years ago to my DREAM job, doing policy work in support of legal services for the poor. I can't say that I'm saving the world, but it's WAY more satisfying than my former life as a big firm litigator.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Cooking, but no delusions about opening a restaurant or getting on the Food Network.

Being a fierce advocate.

Figuring things out and getting things done.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
The wild and (increasingly) gray-streaked hair. The green eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I appreciate quality, but am not too fussy and always eager to try new things. A sampling:

It's a Wonderful Life, The Red Balloon, The Thin Man series, Do the Right Thing, Philadelphia.

Pink makes me shake my bootie; John Legend makes me swoon. Liking Alabama Shakes. Enjoyed my first opera a couple years ago. Hope to get back to Mamou, Louisiana on a Saturday morning to hear the house band and dance with the crawfish farmers.

Rachel Maddow, The Good Wife, Top Chef, Jon Stewart. Was a fan of Weeds, The Wire, and Homicide.

Savory over sweet. Red over white. Tap over bottled. Cooking for others over going out (usually).
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My girls
Old friends
Chef's knife
Potato chips (sometimes, dark chocolate)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
My to-do list. Menu planning. Nonprofit infrastructure.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
It could be anything. I like Friday nights -- they've always struck me as the time of the week with the most possibility.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I was on the math team in high school.

Despite my bravado, sometimes I get weary and need a little tenderness. As the kids say, bonus points if you know the reference.

You've got old school manners, progressive politics, common sense and enthusiasm. Pretty please, say what you mean and mean what you say.

You're looking for a meaningful relationship and maybe to fall in love again. GGG would be a nice bonus (which, for me, does not mean poly or FWB).

Thank you for respecting my preferred age range.
