My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I should start by saying that people from Chicago seem to think I live out in the boondocks somewhere. While Indiana isn't all that great, it should be known I live less than an hour from Chicago - a city I frequent as much as possible, usually at least once a week if not more. I have a car and avoid public transportation almost entirely. I'd rather be able to come and go as I please than have to deal with schedules, delays, etc.

Some people have hang-ups about labels but I'm not really that kind of guy. I'm a geek, a cinephile, a gamer, a liberal democrat, and so forth.

My favorite hobby/passion is cinema. I have strong feelings about all forms of art, but cinema has always been what speaks clearly to me. I used to be a bit of an elitist, however, I've come to realize one can have their popcorn and eat it, too. I get somewhat annoyed when people ask what my favorite genre is because I watch a little bit of everything. While most of my viewing is dedicated to foreign and independent cinema, I'm not opposed to Hollywood fare, documentaries, and so on. Whether it's Ingmar Bergman or Michael Bay, I can enjoy their work for entirely different reasons and see no point in comparing apples and oranges.

I have little to no interest in sports. If you're looking for someone to watch a game with you or go to an event I'm down for that, just don't expect me to get invested in all of it.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.

telling stories, making people laugh, being mistaken for Kevin Smith, and underwater firebuilding.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!

Food: I'm not terribly picky, but you should know I love sushi. I have no interest in becoming a vegetarian/vegan, but I'm not judgmental of people who are.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. My friends
2. Films
3. Music
4. My iPhone (yes I realize this is sad but it just keeps me connected to so many things)
5. Craft beer
6.More to come...
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Films I want to make and stories I want to write.

The next big journey in my life...
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Somewhere interesting. Maybe the movies, maybe a dive bar with friends, maybe out-of-town visiting folks I know across the States.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm a pretty open book but I guess I can say that I'm currently living with my parents. I've had a few setbacks but I'm glad my parents care enough about me to help me out. I realize this is a deal breaker for some and I respect that. What I don't appreciate is people calling me a failure or an embarrassment because of said situation. A simple "not interested" is more respectable than condescension.

I can also say I've yet to ever travel outside of the country. I don't even currently have a passport. I would love to get out of here for awhile though one day.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You have a heart big enough to match mine. You're an optimist but also a realist. You're good at dishing out and taking sarcasm. You have a sense of humor.

You're looking for a geeky guy who isn't a douchebag and you're interested in being geeky with me. Seriously. Let's talk cinema, theater, literature, music, television, pop culture. Let's go to an arcade, drop $15, and play games for a few hours. Let's watch movies at the Music Box, the Siskel Center, or Landmark. Let's go check out some artwork and vinyl toys at Rotofugi. Let's go look for used books and then discuss whatever over coffee.

If you drink beer that doesn't have the word "Lite" or any variation of said word in it. You've already gained points in my book. I live relatively close to 3 Floyds Brewery and am always up for grabbing a pint or two.

You can type messages that are longer than a sentence and aren't just a "Hello" or "Hey."

You're as much a fan of proper grammar and spelling as I am. You realize that the letter "A" is not in the word "definitely" but there are two of them in the word "separate." Who the hell is teaching kids this nonsense?

If you live far away don't hesitate to message me, either. I've met a lot of awesome people on here from around the globe and am always glad to have more people that share similar interests to talk with.
