Hi There,
You've found a Midwestern guy with a sense of adventure who moved to NYC 15 years ago for what was supposed to have been a three year experience. Clearly I've been having a good time here in the City. Having someone to share it with would only make things better. Here are a few tidbits about my life and what makes me tick:

*Quick Update- the site says I'm against inter-racial marriage, which isn't true and I haven't been able to fix my answer to this question. Aggravating.

I’ve always been an active guy and I spent a lot of time either playing competitive sports or reading while growing up. I have a real competitive spirit and I love to break a sweat (not while reading, I feel I should be clear about that). A few of my favorite authors are John Irving, Bill Bryson, Twain, and Alexander Dumas. Bryson is from my home town and we share a similar sense of humor (so of course I find him hilarious). I wrote, directed, and acted in a number of musical comedies in college and I was a member of a comedy troupe for a while too. That doesn’t mean I walk around cracking jokes all the time but it does mean I consider a sense of humor to be important and you'll find I laugh easily and often. I’m also not the wacky sense of humor type of guy – usually a little drier than that. While going to school in the Midwest I worked for my university as a hiking and canoeing guide so you know I love the outdoors. I think growing up in the Midwest in a family that was equal parts theatrical performers and lawyers gave me an interesting outlook on life. I got the tennis lessons and the summers in Telluride but I also have a real appreciation for the arts. I come from a family of story tellers and I'm told I can hang with the best of them. I was also given a healthy dose of the famous Midwestern work ethic growing up. I had to spend a great deal of time doing chores on my grandfather’s farm (I was woefully unaware of child labor laws). As a result of all of this I have a wicked backhand and I can saddle and ride my own horse while talking politics and current events (no one has tested me on this yet). Favorite sports - soccer, tennis, and skiing. I’ve coached and played all three and tennis has become both a competitive outlet for me and a social network. I captain a number of USTA teams year 'round and I really enjoy the comaraderie playing on a team provides and the friendships I've developed over the years. Those friendships mean the world to me and I consider my best friends to be part of my family.

While I love all of the opportunities and adventures NYC provides, I have to say it was difficult to resign from my position as a high school soccer coach to leave my boys to someone else. Coaching is the most rewarding thing I've ever done and I try to keep my hand in the game on occasion. The first time one of my players jumped into my arms after a match I was hooked for life. How could anyone not be?

So why am I here? I'm here because I’m at a point where I can take time to do the things I really enjoy and I'd like to have someone to share these things with. I imagine if you're here you feel the same way. I'd like to find a true compaion, someone I can share my life with, build a life with. I'm a kind, open minded, thoughtful man who really enjoys making people happy. I'm hoping to find that in a companion as well. I'm looking for someone who has a sense of adventure and spontaneity, a good sense of humor, and a kind heart. I'm also looking for someone with a flexible personality. I'm not a big fan of rigid people (have to be able to roll with the punches - I love to spring surprises). From my bio you know I like sports and being outdoors. I also like to hit the trendy restaurants and bars and I love to go dancing once in a while. I don't have to be with someone who has the same interests that I do but having an open mind about what I like to do is important to me.

You know what, what I'm really looking for is someone I can have a great time with. The rest will work itself out. I love finding new places and things to do in the City. If you’re interested in adventuring around NYC and getting to know someone like me, drop me a line..
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Endlessly searching for the waffles and dinges truck....looking up an online definition for "dinges".
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have absolutely no idea. But now I'm curious and I would like to know...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I'm a big John Irving fan. Love his style of writing. Bill Bryson too. I have far too many favorite movies to choose from. My grand parents were Vaudevillian performers. So I like some of the old classics (I'm not sure I had a choice). Here are a few movies that came to mind recently:
Shawshank Redemption
Young Frankenstein
Dr. Strangelove
Amelie
The Godfather
Fandango

For music I need to freshen things up a bit. I'm forever a U2 fan. REM and David Byrne are long time favorites. But most of my more recent choices are all from SNL performances (Black Keys, Alabama Shakes, etc.). It would be nice to know someone hooked into the music scene better than I am. I will say tonight's random mix on my iPod was interesting: Johnny Cash, Stereo MC's, and Van Halen.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Music
Something fun and creative - Off Broadway shows, improv, the Met or symphony
Sports, outdoor activities
Someone who makes me laugh
Story telling
Affection
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I like to think about my next adventure. I've been working my way through a few fun things; earning my sailing license (a few summers ago) getting a motorcycle, and scuba certification or learning to surf is up next. And each year for about the last decade I have taken a long ski weekend with the guys. I love thinking about the next trip. Last year it was cat skiing in Steamboat. This year it was great powder in Jackson Hole. Next year, who knows?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
It's different every week. But I love dinner out or drinks with friends. And I'm often playing tour guide for visiting friends (I like showing off our city). If I don't have something fun and social to do I'll cave and play a tennis match for my men's team.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
This isn't anything private, but the goatee that shows up in a few of my photos is gone! Someone should have made me do that long ago.

Give me a shout if you'd like to spend some time with a good story teller with good sense of humor. Catch me for a drink, a walk in the park, whatever. I'm usually game. And if you have fun playing tennis, maybe we can get out and have a hit.
