I am curvy, witty, and INFP.

My Self-Summary

It's a good combo, promise.

I am from the Midwest but have been in DC for 15 years, so I'm going to start saying I'm a native pretty soon. I'm a reader, a foodie, a hedonist, and a good friend. I'm an excellent listener, and pretty damn funny if I do say so myself. And I do.

I am going to Tanzania in November for the wildebeest migration. It's my biggest trip ever and I'm thrilled to be going. It's so cool I'm kind of jealous of myself.

I wish I played guitar. I love children, puppies, rainbows, and Obama, though he is a bit too moderate for me. I'm pretty sure Glenn Beck is Satan and that disallowing gay marriage is the shame of our generation (among others I suppose.)

What else...I have my own apartment, and partial custody of a neurotic mutt. I am moderately clumsy. I love Irish pubs and everything else Irish. I travel whenever and wherever I can. I may or may not watch some trashy reality TV, in secret shame and alone. I have a real soft spot for the geekish and secretly hip nerds. You know who you are.

My life is good--solid job, awesome friends, family nearby--but I am looking for a little more fun and possibility. Someone once asked me if I was looking for my one true love or someone to watch movies and make out with. I'd take either or both. Who wouldn't?

What I’m doing with my life

I work at a small, slightly crunchy nonprofit in communications but have a secret identity as a (maybe failing) web entrepreneur (no, not porn.) I host a pub quiz once in a while and read a lot.

I used to be live to work but am going through a work to live phase and I like it.

I’m really good at

Listening, knowing what people are going to say before they say it, cooking, crossword puzzles, making children like me, making out (not with children), road trips, travel in general, staring off into space, Scrabble, amusing myself, and amusing other people. I also think I'm a splendid singer after a couple of drinks, but some would argue the point.

The first things people usually notice about me

My sense of humor and my awesome rack.

Meet me and see for yourself.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I change my mind all the time based on the last things I read, saw, ate, and heard. Right now I'm digging the New Yorker, books about Mormons, George Pelecanos and The Wire, gothic midlist literary fiction (perennially a fall favorite), always Asian food of any kind, and stuff about Africa because I am going to Tanzania in November for the wildebeest migration. It's my biggest trip ever and I'm thrilled to be going.

True confessions: I'm not a music geek. Make me a mix and I'll probably love it as long as it's not too poppy or country, unless it's old, good country. I cede the music geekery to you right up front; isn't that nice of me?

The six things I could never do without

My sister and mom, my glasses, my bookshelf, witty repartee, and my kitchen gadgets (not necessarily in that order).

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Traveling; what books I need; work, and what I'm going to do when I don't have to work any more; the state of the world, the state of my apartment, and state secrets and how come I never know any; whether dating is better in cities other than my beloved DC.

On a typical Friday night I am

Either out to dinner and a movie with friends or curled up with Dateline and takeout. Once in a blue moon I go to the bar and blow off enough steam to ruin Saturday, but I've mostly gotten that out of my system.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm the only introvert you'll ever meet who loves karaoke. I won't make you go, though. I am also a lousy recycler but I'm committed to continued improvement.

You should message me if

You are looking for a real connection, and especially if you are a geekish, guitar-playing man looking for a real connection. Non-geeks can feel free to apply as well.

You want to talk about books and life and other, more secret things.

You want to grab a beer at a pub with a smartass and see what happens.

You want to eat something spicy or do something spicy.

If you see me online, say hi. Make me put my money where my mouth is on the whole smart and funny thing.

If I'm stalking you a little bit, it's probably because you've intrigued me.
