I am funny, understanding, and a great cook.

My Self-Summary

I'm here for the same reason you are: I'm trying to meet someone in a city of 8 million.

I moved to New York three years ago, and made a home. I work hard for what I want, which mostly concerns my writing.

Since my arrival, I've become more independent, more out-going and turned into a pretty great cook. I like who I am, here.

Basically, I love this city, and I'm looking for someone to share it with.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm a writer who also engages in some freelance copy-editing, from time to time. I love to make a living using my writing talents-- English is kinda my bitch.

I'm currently assisting a producer write his first self-help program; which has opened up some interesting doors. (Being paid to meditate is also quite cool.) I'm plotting my own self-help program for the future, once his first one is up and running.

On the more creative front, I'm marketing my first psychological thriller for the stage. Those who have read it have loved it; so I'm doing what I can to put it in the hands of those who could get it somewhere key.

When I'm not in New York, I'm in MD visiting family and trying to be the Cool Uncle.

I'm going to leave my mark on this town; and my writing is the best way to do that. So, that's what I'm doing.

I’m really good at

Writing! I pick up new formats quickly, and have tried my hand at scripts, screenplays, comic books and sketches. My brain's constantly working away at *something* fictional, so I put it to good use.

I'm a good listener. I like being there for friends when they need someone to talk to. I inherited that from my dad, a minister.

I'm no slouch at conversation, either.

I'm a talented actor, with a specialty for improvisational comedy. I'm in an improv troop that performs monthly in Manhattaan. Woot.

I've also become quite a cook! I've been reading Gourmet magazine (before it got cancelled, ugh) and enjoy the chance to make something special.

Something equally fun but less applicable in the day-to-day? Voices. I've got dozens of them. I had a decent VO career starting in MD, and haven't given up on it here in NY.

The first things people usually notice about me

I have a vocal sense of humor, with a taste for bad puns. Also, my eyes are very blue.

That, and my taste in clothing. Love me a 3-piece suit.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Favorite books: The Time Traveler's Wife, anything by Terry Pratchett, Jasper Fforde, Lamb and anything else by Christopher Moore.

Favorite Comics: Watchmen, Kingdom Come, Invincible, The Walking Dead, anything by Alan Moore, The Long Halloween, Hellboy, Superman: Red Son.

Movies: Sleuth, Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, the Godfather (I & II), Superman, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Big Fish, Barton Fink, (or anything by the Coen brothers) plenty of others.

Shows: Glee, Dexter, West Wing, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Kids in the Hall, Pushing Daisies, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, SNL!

Music: Diana Krall, classical, oldies, soundtracks of Stephen Sondheim, Ella Fitzgerald, Yo-Yo Ma, John Williams... the list goes on.

Food: Oooh. A fondness for Chinese, good Mexican; any recipe that gets to sear up some steak. I *love* to cook. I'm enjoying trying to find the best pizza in New York.

The six things I could never do without

My cell phone.

My subway card.

My laptop.

Pen & Paper (that counts as one, dammit).

A cup of hot coffee.

My pork pie hat.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Writing. It's one of my favorite ways to spend time. I'm constantly working on *something*.

I think about what's next. Where my career is going, where my writing is headed, what will I be doing next year; etc.

I think about my family-- I have a two-year-old nephew, Oscar. The little guy is just perfect.

On a typical Friday night I am

Enjoying a drink (bourbon on the rocks), relaxing at home or out with friends doing a show, seeing a movie, something fun.

That, or being a hermit and writing.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

It's only recently that I've started to learn how to be truly happy. Still learning...

You should message me if

You're a fan of sterling conversation. You're funny and you like yourself. You don't mind someone making a good meal or getting a backrub. You want to meet someone who can challenge you in the right ways.
