I am nerdelicious, geekirrific, and dorktastic
I went to school to become Indiana Jones and previously worked in museums and as a teacher, all which I miss, but I can dig my new gig...it pays the bills and I have a hat that prevents my skull from getting caved in, so that's good.
My grin was once timed at 10 minutes without wavering before someone tried to grab my crotch.
I still held the smile though.
I was told to comb my hair recently. It occasionally goes all manner of flopsy. I guess this means that it was noticed.
When I grew my hair out my brother called me Gaius Baltar...I am pretty sure it has to do with the hair length and nothing to do with genocide or hallucinations. Pretty sure.
People also notice my ability to ramble and occasionally talk in complete paragraphs. I blame my high caffeine intake levels and my history as an educator respectively.
I have also been accused of being loud. When I am comfortable with a group of folk, loudness happens. Brunch with my family is a festival of humor and laughter that has been known to fill a restaurant.
A few of the best compliments I have ever received were:
"You are kind of like the Mexican Xander Harris."
"If you were shorter and had longer hair you could be Thorin Oakenshield."
"You kind of have a Johnny Cash thing going on right now"
Movies....hmmmm, see above. I love movies and will give many things a chance (as long as it does not focus on street racing or dance challenges...I seriously worry about modern movies). You can't beat a good old movie (preferable starring Cary Grant or Audry Hepburn), a good swashbuckling adventure (Princess Bride, Indiana Jones), or the utter insanity that is Extreme Asian cinema (I am convinced that no one can do horror better. I don't rattle easy but "Audition" made me cringe)
Often Fixated on: Singing in the Rain, Wuthering Heights, Conan the Barbarian, Serenity, Auntie Mame, Arsenic and Old Lace, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, From Russia with Love, Crybaby, Pacific Rim, Tombstone, Casablanca, Tangled, Godzilla vs. Mothra, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and always (for some odd reason) Big Trouble in Little China
Music: Favorites usually fall within the indie rock persuasion. The mood will strike for something different on occasion, running the gambit across several genres...
Musicians Currently getting the most play time on my ipod: Massive Attack, Dr. Horrible soundtrack, Fallout 3 GNR soundtrack, The Shins, Miles Davis, The Faint, White Stripes, Ladytron, Ella Fitzgerald, Arcade Fire, She and Him, Beethoven, The Blasting Company, Jonathan Richman, Matt and Kim, El Haru Kuroi, Honey Honey, The Cramps, Killsonic, the Editors, Poxy Boggards, Gogol Bordello, X, The Beatles, Camera Obscura, Agent Ribbons, Best of Bond, etc...
While the Ipod gets the most play time I also listen to KCRW, NPR, and KTLK and a few podcasts LIke the Nerdist. I have also been known to listen and contribute to the Happy Jack's RPG podcast...I did mention I am huge frickin' nerd right?
TV: I loved me some Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Firefly. Some other shows that deserve some love are Doctor Who, Madmen, Battlestar Galactica, House of Cards, the Middleman, the West Wing, Supernatural, and Leverage. I tend to catch up on my TV when I am sick....I polished off a few seasons of BSG while I had acute bronchitis, it made hacking up vital organs more bearable.
Comics: Yes please. Not enough? Fine. Some graphic novels that I enjoy would be: Y The Last man, Preacher, Chewed, Saga, most Brubaker, and The Ultimate marvel universe before they got crappy. Some webcomics I have bookmarked: Questionable Content, Girls with Slingshots, xkcd, Penny Arcade, Something Positive, Tweep, Troops of Doom, etc...
Food: Anything...I love to explore new kinds of food, different cultures, and new recipes. I have only found one thing that I am not down for thus far....durian. If you know what it is then you know why. I am proficient in making many foods, but one thing that eludes me is baking....it is a mystery. I was thinking about taking a class. If cooking is an art, baking is a science...I always did better in art than in science (damn measuring cups!)
Currently craving: a nectarine, bacon, some kind of miniature burger, falafel, New York style pizza, Sushi....Unagi and salmon skin rolls to be exact, and Yogurtland....not necessarily together. I've been embarking into the world of vegetarian and vegan cuisine of late and have found the forays to be not horrible. I'm not ready to forsake my omnivorous lifestyle just yet but I don't mind kale.
Pie in its many glorious forms

Why am I awake at 2am watching Dr. Who or Torchwood when I have to go to work at dawn?
It has been pointed out that I glance aroud a lot at my surroundings when walking about the city. I am still paying attention to you, I am also trying to figure out if the sidewalk or street was repaired properly and what utilities are marked. Work occupies my mind from time to time.
Since my roommate moved out recently, I am giving serious thought to turning his room into a ball pit. I am pretty sure I can get them wholesale.
Also since I live alone now, I often forsake wearing pants while at home. There are times that I have decided against going out simply because pants were required.
I am still going pretty strong on the quit smoking thing....I occasionally partake in a cigar or a hookah but haven't had a cigarette in more than a year.

I wanted to be Indiana Jones when I grew up...I got a brief taste of it and on occasion regret not getting more. Then I remember that life is too short for regrets and move along with life.
I enjoy Musicals. Okay, you can stop laughing now....no seriously, you can stop. I'll wait here until your done.
any minute now.
...screw it, moving on....
Honestly, message me if you want to give me stickers or buy me a cup of coffee. I could always use a cup of coffee and stickers rule. I am easy that way, and as my schedule is finally starting to wind down I may actually be able to go out. Woo!
I also need new folk for random text message haiku, snapchat offerings, or pictures of baby otters.
I have started embarking on adventures with a young lady of the lovely and super Rad variety so my romance dance card is currently full. That being said, friendship is always welcome because friends are awesome. So once again, feel free to drop a line if it seems we would get along...or for the aforementioned sticker/coffee/haiku/snapchat/otter offerings.
