I am ambitious, intelligent, and mellow.

My Self-Summary

Hey, my name's Joe. I've got this really weird blend of being a big dreamer that wants it all, but at the same time, I'm happy with everything just as it is. Ambitious and mellow... As for intelligence, it's a subjective thing, so I'll let you be the judge. I'm constantly learning though, so don't be too harsh if I ask "Whachu talkin' 'bout, Willis?"

What I’m doing with my life

Right now, I'm enrolled in PSU, on track for a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. I should be out of school here in a year or so. I'm hoping that the economy is going to rebound enough by then that my degree will be worth at least a little more than toilet paper. T_T

No worries though. For now, I'm working at an Auto Zone. It's good times there and I'm learning details about automobile parts that are interesting.

I’m really good at

I'm really good at geeking out. Lol. Seriously though, if you're looking for someone to talk to about the latest Intel chip specs with, or the compressive forces that interact with a polyurethane wheel on a skateboard, or even how the expansion valve on an air conditioning line works, I'm your guy. I've torn apart and fixed microwave ovens, TVs, toasters, vacuum cleaners and remote control cars. I electroplated my house key using pre-1982 (solid copper) pennies because I was tired of having to look for my house key amongst the dozen other generic shiny silver keys. Bring on the projects and tech talk!

The first things people usually notice about me

If you want to hear an old friend's first impression he had of me, he said that he thought I was some kind of crazy guy.

We worked at Pizza Hut at the time, and I was running the shift. He delivered and would only come into the store between runs. For weeks, maybe even a couple months, we never really said anything. Eventually though, he chimed in on a conversation another driver and I were having and we just kinda talked more and more afterward. Four years later, we're still buds and like to hang out and stuff. He still thinks I'm nuts, but "in a kick ass way". Lol, whatever that means, eh?

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Hmm, I've enjoyed the Chronicles of Narnia and The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis. That guy can make you think! I've liked the cyberpunk and steampunk genres of books like Snow Crash and The Difference Engine. I want to read some Anne Ryand someday when I get the chance.

I don't go much for movies, but I did recently watch Gran Torino with Clint Eastwood. That was an awesome movie! I also enjoy Wayne's World, Bill and Ted, Back to the Future, the Futurama movies, the Time Machine, the Librarian movies were good in a corn-ball sorta way... Movies alone those lines I suppose

As far as music goes, I'll listen to anything that isn't mindlessly repetitive or tasteless. I like a range from single instrumentals to a borderline cacophony, or from acoustic guitar to a fully electronic, auto-tuned vocal song. Music. Don't stop.

Food is delicious. I cook, therefore I eat. I'm not picky, as in I've eaten fried ants (taste like burnt popcorn?), but I do appreciate finer cuisine when available.

The six things I could never do without

Six things, six things... My mind, body and spirit. God, friends and family. How's that?

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I spend a lot of time thinking about life, I suppose. I wonder about what I can improve upon, where I go wrong, how to improve my various situational quandaries.

I think about religion a lot, as well. I try to reconcile what little fragments I understand with my day-to-day experiences. If the bible really is God's word, I mean to figure out precisely what He was trying to tell us. If it ends up being some rambling old fools preaching to the world; well, it's been interesting, regardless.

On a typical Friday night I am

I could be working or studying, I might be out at a friend's place or a party. I might be camping or hanging out with my family, watching some news that I recorded the day before or whatever! It really depends what's going on that day.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

You get nothing! Hehe. If you want to know something about me, you gotta ask me yourself. It's not a matter or insecurity or anything because I'll tell you anything you like freely. I just think it's better to talk about private things one on one rather than letting everyone read my profile and make some snap judgments on my private matters.

You should message me if

You should message me if you think we could make something lasting. I'm even down for a friendship, if you're not wanting a relationship. I'm not interested in playing games or one night stands though, so don't bother trying for something like that.
