My self-summary
Erhm... Hi.

Dunno what I'm supposed to write here, but here goes...

I'm a 20-something guy, looking to survive in this crazy world - and hopefully meet some interesting people along the way.

I have always been a shy geek, but eventually I learned to put on my cool face and try to be open and social when I am meeting new people. So I'm guessing that I'm a pretty outgoing guy now. At least that's what I try to be.

I have a ton of different interests that I like to talk about with people, so even if you consider your hobbies to be weird and/or unique, chances are that we may have at least some of them in common. And even if we don't, I always like to learn more about things I don't know about :)
What I’m doing with my life
I'm currently studying sociology, philosophy and science studies at Roskilde University, which will land me a title somewhere between being cand.mag and cand.scient.soc (if you're American, think of it as a Master's Degree). Previously, I studied computer science - and even graduated before figuring out I'd rather try something else.
Despite all those fancy words I'm still really just a student. I don't know where I'll end up, but I'm not there yet!

Apart from the whole studying thing, I just try to get by. Chill out, surf YouTube, play online games with my friends, go jogging or maybe just take a trip downtown and figure out what to do when I get there.

Also, I fancy myself to be a huge music aficionado (yeah, I had to go look up that word myself :P). I enjoy many different forms of music, from rock music to ambient (I actually like ambient a lot!).

For years, I hung out exclusively with metalheads, going to Wacken Open Air every year from '07 to '11. So I listen to a good deal of heavy metal as well, mainly preferring black metal for its raw and uncompromising sound. And by "raw" I mean as unpolished as I can get it - bands like Burzum, Xasthur, Leviathan and Drudkh could be examples. I also got a bunch of demos from underground black bands, the LLR (Les Légions Noires) and a bunch of other random stuff. For some strange reason, I enjoy the inherent shittyness of production and the monotony of the compositions...

...but, that is not to say I don't like well-produced music! Recently, I've started getting into different kinds of electronic music such as EBM/electro-industrial/synth pop (Assemblage 23 or Skinny Puppy), dream pop/shoegaze (My Bloody Valentine) and trip hop (Portishead and, especially, Massive Attack).

Overall, though, I'm down with anything - Bieber, Bono, Bonobo, Beethoven, Beatles, Beach Boys, Bee Gees, blink-182, Barcode Brothers, Beach House, Björk, Blur, Blut aus Nord, Brian Eno, Bullet For My Valentine - and one of my all-time favorites: Black Sabbath. And those are just some of the B's. Now show me your B's and let's see whose taste is the widest! :)
I’m really good at
making people laugh.
...shit, I probably shouldn't write that - now you'll have huge expectations if we ever meet!

Apart from my, apparently renowned, humour, I'm the geeky guy who can quote Wikipedia articles on-the-fly. So I know a lot of random stuff and can answer many rhetorical questions with way-too-long, over-complicated answers.

At parties I want everyone around me to feel as good as I feel, so if someone is sitting in the corner, is new to the circle or is clearly too shy to enjoy the party I'll most likely attempt to make them join me and the others in having a good time. Maybe that's why people say I'm a good host even when I'm not the host.

I'm good at becoming enthusiastic about an idea, and work as hard as I can to realize it (at least that's what I write in my job applications).

I can also fix your computer.
The first things people usually notice about me
...my height. I'm 2 meters tall, and that's pretty hard to miss. Apparently, that tends to scare off a lot of people, which is a shame because I'm really a very easy-going person.

Apart from that, they'd probably also notice that I talk a lot - especially when I'm nervous or unsure about something. Feel free to ask me to shut up - I appreciate it!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music
And the nominees for favorite music are:
* Supertramp for being my favourite band as far back as I can remember
* Burzum for being atmospheric ambient music - something I like to space out to.
* A Kid Hereafter for being a stupidly happy pop punk band - goddamn, I love them for always putting a smile on my face :D
* Assemblage 23 for being electronic music with awesome lyrics - normally, I don't listen that much to what people actually sing, but the A23 song "Damaged" made me stop and realize that I need to check out lyrics some more, because they can be quite poetic. The same goes for "Sorry" - goddamn poetry!

And now... the list form!
Burzum, Supertramp, Agalloch, Coldworld, Assemblage 23, Wolves in the Throne Room, Stars of the Lid, Dubmood, Hammerfall, In Flames, For My Pain..., Amy Winehouse, Children of Bodom, Lady Gaga, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Roger Hodgson (3 concerts and counting...), Ulver, King Diamond, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath (both with Ozzy, Dio and even Gillan. Just keep Tony Martin away, please), The Rumour Said Fire, Megadeth, Metallica, Summoning, Barcode Brothers, chiptunes, Mozart (mainly his Requiem, I know many of his other works but keep confusing their names)

Movies
Pulp Fiction, The Big Lebowski, O Brother Where Art Thou?, Snatch, Phone Booth, The Godfather, 12 Angry Men (the original), U.S. Marshals, The Phantom of the Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar, Blues Brothers 2000, Amadeus, The Butterfly Effect, Fight Club

Shows
24, American Dad!, Boardwalk Empire, Criminal Minds, The Commish, Dexter, Family Guy, Friends, Game of Thrones, Hannibal, How I Met Your Mother, Lost, Sherlock, Supernatural - not to mention the all-time classics The Sopranos and Breaking Bad

As for food, in theory I'll eat almost anything, but I strive to live as vegetarian as I can. Why? Dunno. It's cheap, healthy and an opportunity to look like a gentle, caring person! :P But also because it's a challenge. And I love me a good challenge.
The six things I could never do without
Music! Music of (almost) any kind!

My bed. I only sleep on floors when I'm drunk.

My computer or my guitars or my TV or the Harry Potter book series. These guys get to split a place on the list: If I had one of them, I could probably get by without the others. I'd bitch and moan, but I'd get over it.

Friends and family. The bread and butter of these "Six tings..." lists.

My phone. A geek can't do without his smartphone these days!

Errr.... pants? Or maybe food. Or something like that. Nothing specific, anyway.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything. Way, WAY too much time. Everything becomes a problem if you think long enough about it. So don't.
On a typical Friday night I am
Probably out getting drunk with my friends somewhere, either at a nightclub or at a private party. If not, them I'm probably at home playing League of Legends online with said friends.

Note: If you're my mom, please replace the above answer with "Studying". And stop calling me. Thank you very much.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
No idea. Ask me something private and we'll see.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 20–30
  • Located anywhere
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You're not a spambot and you're not an asshole. Regardless of if you just want a quick chat, or really want us to get to know each another.

Now, I know first-hand the whole issue of "What should I write to this person that I don't know...? I don't want to sound annoying...", so here is my brand-new, patented picture perfect placeholder:

"Hello Giant Confused Man! I just dropped by your profile and find you _______ [interesting/annoying/strange/look like my pet hamster].
I can see that we have _______ [everything/absolutely nothing/a few things] in common and wanted to say hi. Feel free to drop me a message :)"

Just copy the above, fill in the blanks, put it in a message and - hey look! Communication!
