My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a political junkie. The first thing I do in the morning is read The Huffington Post or New York Times. On occasion, I'll read The Wall Street Journal--merely for shits and giggles.

I'm ridiculously liberal but not in the highbrow sort of way.

Woody Allen doesn't get enough credit 'round these parts.

Power to the proletariat.

I'm your average misanthropic iconoclast. See, I believe all people deserve an equal opportunity to earn living wages and government assistance when needed, but sometimes I'm not particular fond of people and their behavior. It has been a constant back and forth with me.

I'm fascinated with the cosmos, the deep ocean and human behavior.

I'm kind of like a young Larry David; put me next to a stranger and we'll talk for hours, put me next to someone I've known for years and the crickets will sing.

I'm fascinated with vultures because they are vital to any healthy ecosystem.

I'm against the possession of a mortgage. One of the benefits of living lease to lease is that you're not tied down to some arbitrary loan that traps you in one city or one place. I can move around. Can you?

I'm rational, goal-oriented, pro-union, secular/atheist and opinionated, or in other words, hated by mothers across the country!

I tend to change subjects often.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I have a BA in Communications/Journalism and that has led me to a variety of interesting occupations, including an editorial position with an adult website, although I am currently working as a Grievance/Union guy for University Professors. I'm going for my Masters in Labor Relations in 2015 so I am a very busy guy.

I'm also a freelance journalist. You may have seen my work on a number of outlets, including (WHYY), I regularly contribute to the Chestnut Hill Local newspaper if you're from that area.

I try to travel as much as possible. I've been to Slovakia, Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, The Netherlands and most of the U.S. I don't really take photographs of the places I visit, so you'll have to take my word on that. Although, I recently purchased a decent camera and i'm looking into taking up photography but merely as a hobbyist. I'm hoping to get some shots of free-flying birds. That's my goal, at least.

I plan on doing a lot in my last year as a 20-something. In addition to reaching for my Masters, I'm going to take on photography, new languages, and I plan on moving to a space that is more conducive to the types of things I want to do. An office/studio home.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Writing. Debating. Poetry. Political observation. Leading. Inspiring. Chess. Poking and probing enough to make people feel uncomfortable but challenged.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Difficult to say. I'm misinterpreted as shy simply because I don't like engaging in conversation that is simplistic or related to small talk. If I say "okay then" several times it means I want to end the conversation and escape.

Crowds bother me. Not just in a social sense, but because group think is a product of it and individuality is suppressed.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Plenty. My favorite book is Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates, quickly followed by any Orwell, or Bradbury, or even the contemporary Fight Club. I also enjoy non-fiction quite a bit. Chomsky. Naomi Wolf. Kant. Dawkins. Hitchens.
Bukowski--especially Bukowski

Movies follow the same sort of direction. Some examples: Antichrist, Taxi Driver, Dead Alive, 30 Days of Night, Woody Allen stuff, Fight Club, Moon, 28 Days Later, Michael Moore. I'm pretty much a sucker for the horror genre.

Music: Tool, Isis, El Creepo!, Neurosis, Battle of Mice, Made out of Babies, Dead Kennedys, Henry Rollins, Fantomas (anything Mike Patton), Les Baxter, Slayer, Aphex Twin, Dalek, Immortal Technique, Exotic Animal Petting Zoo, Cave-in, etc.

I'm pretty sure Cave-In is the greatest "traditional" rock band of my generation.

TV: Dexter, Arrested Development, Twin Peaks, South Park, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Game of Thrones, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld, The Killing, Bates Motel...we are in the golden age of surpasses film in many ways IMO.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
-Sanity (though that may be slipping)
-Faith (Just kidding!)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Our role in the universe, Atheism, Socialism, Books, Music, trivial day-to-day occurrences, Social Capitalism, Silk Road, Tor, etc.

If we're on a date, and the moon is full enough that the night radiates and you can't appreciate it, then i'm afraid we won't get along.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Probably watching something on Netflix or out at a bar.

I enjoy dialogue. A nice, dialogue-driven night at the bar suits me well.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

I'm really uncomfortable with online dating culture that coerces you into being clever. I am clever. Just not when I'm told to be.

I'm going to feed the white people problems hashtag for one moment: I get really frustrated, sometimes angry, when I step out of the shower and swiftly dry my body to then accidentally put on a shirt with the tag in front of my face. My partially wet skin and the fabric of the clothe make it difficult to remove the shirt and place in its proper contextual neighborhood. Come to think of it, this is kind of a clever response so I'm going to stop.

I prefer baths over showers.

I don't give a damn about sports.

I hope I go grey when I get older

Negativity and cynicism used to dominate my life, but as I get older I've come to appreciate the fragility of the relationships I have with the people I care about as well as the limited time I have on this Earth. Being unnecessarily, overly critical of life is not something I plan on doing anymore. I want to enjoy the rest of my youth.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You're a nerd or you think that watching grown men throw a pigskin around is a waste of a Sunday afternoon.

Honestly, though, life is full of rules and restrictions and I'd rather whatever comes from this not be tied to rules. A connection not bound by chains is what I'm looking for, and that's it.
