I read quite a bit. I listen to friends who need someone to listen. I like board games and role-playing games such as Dugeons&Dragons. I like to swim.

I love music. I contra dance, albeit not as often as I would like (I do try hard to get to NEFFA every year, though). Note that just because I contra dance doesn't mean I need any future relationship partners to do so. It'd be nice, but as long as you don't get jealous of *me* dancing...

I like walking and hiking, but only get to hike once in awhile, so mainly do short hikes at the moment.

I work in my garden when I can. Currently working on fixing the fence around it.

I take responsibility for my actions. I don't smoke or do drugs.

I've noticed that OKC has decided that I am less interested in sex. (as per those little pictures that used to be down at the bottom of one's profile, and also the comparison graphs) My guess is that this is because I don't answer any of OKC's questions about sex. Which really should only lead one to the conclusion that I am less interested in making my sexual preferences available to the general public. Actually, though, I find most of those questions to be having the wrong answers. And I've found that my answers can be different depending on my partner. All in all, it seemed it would be misleading to answer many of the ones I've seen so far.

I enjoy learning new things, and think the day is a better day if I learn something new that day.

I am a software contractor and do web-design and web-hosting on the side.

I try to help the earth in little ways. I try to help people in little ways. I garden.

I think maybe I'll write some books some day. I try to enjoy what life has to offer. I am involved with a few social groups.

I think I sing well and I'm a great software engineer. I am very good at listening and understanding.
Being aware and present. Clarifying what people are saying to each other, if I notice a misunderstanding beginning to brew.

I think people look at me and make judgements about me based on my looks. I think it takes awhile before people actually see *me*. When they do, they often notice that they are comfortable talking to me about almost anything.

Movies: The Big Chill, Pirates of the Caribbean, Dead Poets Society, Lord of the Rings, I'm sure there are others

Food: Pizza, asparagus, some mexican. I am exploring the possibility of becoming vegan, and have been living fairly close to vegan for a number of months. If only vegan pizza tasted as good as real pizza! However, I won't try to convert you. Last year, I joined a CSA and had a lot of fun experimenting with new recipes, to use veggies I had never tried before.

Music: I like most music, although am not really into elevator or rap. I do like celtic quite a bit, rock (some soft, some hard), classical, jazz fusion...) don't ask me to remember who does what though! Some of the favorites I've had over the years are: Styx, Kansas, Moody Blues, John Denver, Enya, Jean Luc Ponty, ABBA, Bruce Springstien, Emerson Bruford Wakeman and Howe, Pendragon (the ones from RI who do celtic....I think there might be more than one Pendragon...) Books: how can I chose a favorite? there are so many! I read a lot. I do read a lot of fantasy. Both fiction and non-fiction are interesting. At any given time, I'm likely to be partway through 3-5 books. I also like some comic books (the kind that are collections of newspaper strips), for when I am winding down or need to give my brain a rest without getting lost too deeply into something. Historical fiction and mysteries can be fun. Some really good books by people I know or knew, which I should go look up and put a plug in here for them...

If someone does something rather unexpected, I'm likely to spend a lot of time trying to figure out what caused them to act that way, if it is not obvious.

Sometimes I think about prejudice, especially little subtleties that people don't notice as easily, and how to address these things.

I will, in the not-so-distant-future, be an empty-nester, so I wonder what that transition will bring about.

I've also noticed lately that I have a lot of *things* that are no longer used. I have been gathering them up, and trying to find places/people who want or need them.

Once or twice a month I play D&D on Friday night. Sometimes I am just reading a book. Sometimes I am preparing for the weekend. Once in a great while I go contra dancing. Sometimes I'm out somewhere, sometimes I'm in.

Get to know me, then ask things if you want to know them. Don't ask unless you really want to know the answer, as it is highly likely I will answer.

I seem interesting to you, and you don't smoke or do drugs.
It would be good if you can deal with casual touch in public. If honesty in a relationship is important to you.
