I strive for balance in all things I'm aware of, and becoming aware of what I'm not. I meet these with varying levels of success. I can't imagine not working to become a better person, though, and seek someone to share with and support each other in our individual journeys. Generally positive, slightly cynical, I do my best to be kind and responsible for my actions. If all that sounds serious, I'm really just a goof-ball with a deep appreciation for things that make us laugh, which, from the right perspective, is everything.

I'm a remodel contractor by day, guitar player at night, full-custody dad always (well, until he moves on). I like to cook, hike, travel, socialize and read as time allows. Learning to slow down, observe and appreciate the vast wonder of our world.

I read novels (T.C. Boyle, Kingsolver, Steinbeck are favorites), biographies, philosophy and psychology, some history. Basically anything that piques my interest.
I like similar things as far as movies go. Amongst my top ten are "Wings of Desire", "Spinal Tap", "Brazil" and "Lord of the Rings".
I don't watch TV per se, but I do like to watch a series when it comes out on DVD or Netflix. I've thoroughly enjoyed "Six Feet Under", "Lost" and "Downton Abbey".
I have very eclectic taste in music. From Gregorian chant to classic punk to avant grade, there's something in almost every genre that I like, and particularly keen on progressive rock, electric jazz and world beat.
As for food, there's not much I won't try. My sweet tooth seems to be decaying (pun very much intended) so I'm drawn more to the savory than the sweet. I'm also going more veggie, though I doubt I'll ever be able to give up meat entirely, especially chicken and fish. If forced to chose one cuisine, I'd probably say Mexican, with Italian a close second. Thankfully, I don't have to limit my choices.
