My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm always interested in making new friends and finding people to hang out with, and figured this would be a good place to find people with similar interests.

I'm in a long-term relationship with my wonderful fiancee thelorax_taco. We have a dog.

I'm originally from the Detroit area, but have been in DC for about three years now. Overall, I've enjoyed it. Where else do I get the opportunity to converse about mulberries with a long-haired, bearded fellow bearing a six-foot wooden cross?
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm working on pitching a movie version of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, but... in space!

OK, I'm actually a grad student studying history, and researching for my dissertation. So, mostly I'm staring at the ceiling of my apartment or the main reading room of the Library of Congress, avoiding eye contact with the Word document in front of me.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.

I read a lot, but given that I spend my days reading historical texts, I tend to stay away from non-fiction when reading for fun. Some of my favorite authors are: Atwood, Bradbury, Chabon, Le Guin, Orwell, John Irving, Frank Herbert, George R.R. Martin, Phillip K. Dick.

Recently, I've read and really enjoyed: The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss, Wool by Hugh Howie, Perdido Street Station and The Scar by China Mieville, The Magicians by Lev Grossman, The Long Dark Tea-time of the Soul by Douglas Adams, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz.

Movies: Bladerunner, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, The Matrix, The Godfather, Monty Python, Juno, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Pulp Fuction, Royal Tenenbaums.

Shows: The Office, X-Files, Star Trek: TNG, Star Trek: DS9, Community, Venture Bros., Seinfeld, Arrested Development, Battlestar Galactica, Farscape, Rick and Morty, Game of Thrones.

Music: I have an eclectic taste in music, but tend to listen to more rock than anything else. The Decembrists, Ben Folds, The Beatles, The Cranberries, Something Corporate, Led Zeppelin, The Smiths, Neutral Milk Hotel, and a million other bands.

Games: Tabletop RPGs, Cosmic Encounters, The Resistance, Coup, Race for the Galaxy, Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne, Ghost Stories, Dominion.

Video Games: Crusader Kings II, Skyrim, Super Mario World, Final Fantasy VI, Ocarina of Time, Sim City 4.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Spending time with my fiancee, watching TV, surfing the web, playing board games, or hanging out with friends.

I tend to spend my time hanging out with small groups of people that I know well rather than going out to clubs or bars, not that I'm against the latter.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I named my dog after a Phillip K. Dick novel.

The Left Hand of Darkness is the greatest title ever conceived.

I hate Monopoly.

When I say I speak French poorly, I really mean "not at all, but I may be able read that historical document with the aid of enough wine."

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You think we might have something in common and you want to chat or hang out.

You want to go explore the city and surrounding areas, especially by bike. I've been here for a while now, but still don't feel that I've experienced enough of DC.

You like playing boardgames or tabletop RPGs.

You're looking for someone to play racquetball, lacrosse, baseball, whatever else with.

You want someone to speak German or Polish with. I can get by in German, but my grammar is terrible, and my Polish is terrible all around.

You like prepositions or enjoy using them to end sentences with.
