I am Covered, In, and Beeeeees!!!.
My Self-Summary
Me = LA native, born in Hollywood. The hospital I was born in is
now the church of Scientology. Yes, I do feel tainted by this
fact.
I love food, greatly enjoy the outdoors & couldn't imagine
living far from the ocean. I'm a runner, a hiker, a mountain
biker...
Wow, a rhyme. That was horrible.
I'm a foodie. I believe life is too short to eat bad food or drink
bad wine. Of course I also believe life is too short to not
exercise after partaking in the aforementioned good food &
wine, lest we feel sluggish. I can't abide couch potatoes,
especially in Southern California. Go outside, play in the sun,
you'll feel better, trust me.
I'm allergic to cats but have one (it lives outdoors at my old
place... I visit & play & my old neighbor feeds him... long
story, he was a rescue that grew up in my yard. Hey, I may be
allergic but I couldn't let the little bugger be put to
sleep!)
I'm a former mohawked punker (back when it actually wasn't cool and
you didn't buy your $200 punk wardrobe at Hot Topic). Now I'm the
normal looking guy (give or take) who still loves old Bad Religion
& Circle Jerks (the band, not the nasty sexual act). It's all
about state of mind. Mine's pretty open, is yours?
I'm quite amused with this site so far. Enough so that I even
posted pics, wrote some pithy blurbs and even took a bunch of
tests. While I'd love to actually be struck with a case of "ooh,
she's awesome!", I'll more likely come down with "hey, cool
friend". What that means is that while I'd love to meet someone I
would be "Interested" in, it may or may not happen, but a cool
friend or two would still be pretty awesome. One can never have too
many great people to run amok with!
REVELATION: (using "update" is so 2008) I just realized I'm in my
30's. Wow, easy to forget when you live life by the rule "If you
were on an island with no clocks and no calendars how old would you
be?" Me, I firmly believe the adage, "You have to age but you don't
have to get old." Still, cut me in half & count the rings, then
drop about a decade and you should have my persona age (minus the
binge drinking associated with that age)
Revelation Part II: I type way too much sometimes.
Now in Italian
E addesso devo scrivere qualcosa in Italiano. E stato proprio un
lungo tempo da quando io ho abitato in Italia ('92-'94) ma voglio
tornare quasio ogni giorno. Chi sa, forse quest'anno posso tornare
alla mia seconda citta. Mi manca Firenze!!! Porca miseria!
Now in German
Ich lerne Deutsch ( langsam aber sicher) aber ich verstehe die
sprache besser dann ich spreche. Vielleicht ich werde in Berlin
gehen noch ein mal vor die ende 2008, aber weiss nicht.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm doing all kinds of things with my life. Until recently I was an
on-set medic in the film biz. Basically a glorified school nurse
for actors & stuntmen. 95% of the time my job was as exciting
as, "Can I have an aspirin?" "Sure".
Yeah, high adventure... 8 years of it.
So now I'm galavanting & working on several other things,
hoping one will pay off in the reasonably near future. Life's too
short to work in a cubicle or in fluorescent lights (or heaven
forbid, both!) While I could go back to the old medic job at any
time (my union card is active you see), I think that the industry
is a trap. Sure you make great money, but you're so busy working
you never get to enjoy it. Life's too short and I have no desire to
work to retirement age only to realize that I'm too old & tired
to enjoy myself. So here I am, trying other things, working and
traveling in new cities. I'm taking back my life after 8 years of
14 hour days and I'm loving it.
For shits & giggles I write. Zombie stories, adventure stories,
romance stories... it's a hobby that would be fun to make a buck at
some day. We shall see.
I spend a ton of time in either LA or Philly. I'll also be off to
San Francisco again quite soon. It's good to be busy and even
better when you can be busy in new and interesting places!
UPDATE: I am officially over Philly. No, for reals. I love the
town, it's food, history, architecture, the Philly 'vibe' (I even
love Sugar Mom's) but between the bass-ackwards way the city is
run, the preponderance of hipsters with shitty neck tattoos of
their own name (the hipster version of a cowboy beltbuckle
methinks) and some horrible stuff that recently happened to a dear
friend, well let's just say that if you know anyone who wants to
buy a car in Philly I'll be looking to sell mine. Yes I have a car
there for work. Long story. Of course I still have to go back
periodically... karma or something?
I think Berlin and Florence are the next destinations. I miss
Florence every day (literally) and my friend in Berlin (awesome
city) keeps bugging me to come back & visit. Maybe if the Euro
tanks a bit further vs. the dollar. In the meantime most of the
year I live a few blocks from the beach in Venice... not such a bad
life.
New Venture! I'm now working on making and bringing to market a
super spicy ginger brew. Suggestions for names/slogans accepted. My
friend came up with "Hotter than a supermodel on fire" which made
me laugh. I think that is probably more marketable than "More burn
than after that Bangkok bordello", which still amuses me.
I’m really good at
Being modest.
Being Sarcastic.
Oh, and full-contact strip-Scrabble.
The first things people usually notice about me
The peg-leg, glass eye and parrot on my shoulder.
Sorry, was dreaming about pirates again. It's fun to be
swarthy!
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Pixies, best band
ever. Don't try to argue, it's the internet and I can't hear
you.
Books? What are those? You mean the things they use to write down
what was said in the movies?
Neil Gaiman (Good Omens especially), Ariosto (Orlando Furioso), Guy
de Maupassant, Chuck Pahlaniuk, Christopher Moore, Amy Hempel...the
list goes on...
Wristcutters. Brain Smasher (a love story). Groundhog Day. Love
that movie.
Amelie, Girl on the Bridge, 5th Element, Cinema Paradiso, Oh hell,
I watch it all, there are too many to list (and lists are rather
boring anyway for the most part.)
Digging Brit Tv... Spaced, The IT Crowd, Life on Mars, Black Books,
Peepshow... still haven't seen Big Train, that's next on the
list.
...Mark it 8 Dude...
The six things I could never do without
If Man is 5 then the Devil is 6...
I like to think I could do just fine with a loincloth and a Rambo
knife. But let's be realistic...
Good food, music, art, conversation, travel, adventure, exercise
and of course the one everyone has to include here, sex (though I
think it may fall under "exercise" or maybe even "adventure" in the
right situation)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Traveling the world, eating amazing new foods, meeting amazing new
people, expanding my horizons, seeing it all! Life's too short not
to travel!
Oh, and I also spend hours thinking about "walls of pretty".... one
can never look at too much art!
On a typical Friday night I am
Either in or out, either quiet or bantering, either running amok or
being mellow...
The ideal is to not fall into the trap of having a "typical" Friday
night isn't it? So much more fun to change it up.
I do love First Fridays though. So much great artwork, so little
time!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
That I find it odd they ask you to admit something private here.
Hmmmm, it's all data mining for Big Brother!
Ok, here's something. I know how to say "Circle Jerk" in Swedish.
Yes, totally random vocabulary gold pointed out by my Swede friend
who realized that two words I know (Bun and Masturbate) combined
make Circle Jerk.
No, I'm not typing it here, you'll just have to be curious. Ha!
You should message me if
You are intelligent, have a penchant for witty banter, are
sarcasmic (so sarcastic you get off from it) and don't take life
too seriously.
I'm in LA but do travel fairly often. Philly is a regular stop as
is SF lately. It'd be lovely to meet some new friends around the
country or even the world, so if you'd care to just say hi (rather
than send a lascivious message, though those are ok too) by all
means do.
stare a casa.
Allora, ragazza interesante, esisti?
