I'm from a rural town in Rhode Island. My parent's house stands on the grounds of the 19th century town poorhouse which was also apparently a slaughterhouse because my sister and I discovered several cow-shaped "dinosaurs" when we were kids.
My mom's side is 100% French-Canadian. All the old people on that side would immediately switch to French as soon as they got together even though none of them were born in Quebec. My Gram/Gramps, Nana/Paps were called Memere and Pepere. I had a great uncle named Onesime (ooh-nuh-zem). We called him Uncle Lou. I speak all of five words of French. I took five years of Latin.
I love baseball. I'm a Red Sox fan. You must be ok with that.
I love the Patriots. Tom Brady is perfect. You must be ok with that and with all the pacing and muttering I do every Sunday in the fall.
I love making beer. I started last year and soon I had thrown out my kitchen table and installed shelves to house all the bottles and buckets. It's a great feeling you get when people honestly and enthusiastically enjoy something you boiled up in your 700 square foot apartment.
I love the Beatles. At my dad's house when I was a kid, we would clear the coffee table out of the living room and put on records and dance. From as far back as I can remember, the combination of John Lennon and Paul McCartney's voice in harmony has sent a shiver up my spine. If you want to convince me there's a benevolent God, start with I Don't To Spoil the Party and end with Happiness is a Warm Gun.
I am the only boy out of four. My sisters and I are very different but very close.
I love being an uncle, but that's easy because my nieces and nephew are the cutest of all time. I will fight you.
I studied creative writing in college. I was also in bands. So of course I now buy chemicals for a wet wipe factory.
