Oh my, I hate writing these. (Hey, isn't that what everyone says about self-summaries?)
So, technically i'm half german and half american (my dad was in the Airforce and met my mom in Germany), but I actually spent the majority of my life in German speaking countries (except for a few years as small child in the states), for the last few years I've been living here in Vienna. I guess I'm pretty much easy going and like to do all kind of different things. I sometimes like being ironic and/or silly , but not always. Hmm, I enjoy giving talks/presentations; but meeting new people, sometimes I can be relatively quiet and not say much, too. Sometimes I just like to observe, I guess. I think I don't like it when people take themselves too seriously or are overly self confident.

I'm not really sure what I'm looking for, here on OKCupid; the reason I registered was because a lot of my friends kept telling me that OKCupid is awesome, and that answering personality questions was fun (which it is, by the way!).

Right now I'm trying to finish my thesis in psychology (hopefully soon...) at the Social, Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience Unit of the University of Vienna. Besides that I have/have had different jobs at the university, but mostly now I work at a local youth center as youth care-taker. Don't know yet exactly what I'll be doing afterwards, on a long term perspective. I'd prefer something that involves neuroscience/clinical psychology.

I don't know, you tell me! :-) The things I have been told a few times now, that people seem to like, are my voice and facial expressions. But I dunno, to me both are perfectly average...

It's hard to pick favorite books, because there are sooo many good books out there, and what I like to read always depends on my mood; but basically just give me any book, and I'll enjoy reading it, be it ancient greek philosophy, a gothic novel or lecture on rocket-science! Doesn't matter! (Hey, I even read the Book of Mormon (!!!!!) in its entirety, from the first to the last page; I bet that's nothing that many people - who aren't actually Mormons - can claim to have done, ha!) Unfortunately, studying and now completing my thesis and preparing for the final exam have massively lowered my book-reading-frequency. I'm looking forward to reading one book per week again!

Movies, I love movies, and actually even write for a small Movie-review website. Again, I find it hard to name my all-time favorite movies, because there are a lot of good ones out there, and what i like, depends on my momentary mood. Apart from that I think I'll like any movie that isn't too shallow or portrays characters, events etc. in plain black and white. So, yes, in my opinion good movies are often a bit ambiguous and sad! Oh, and I tend to like movies with Christian Bale in them...

TV-shows, to name just a few: my all-time favorite definitely is "Game of Thrones"! I also like Dexter, American Horror Story, In Treatment and Californication (haven't yet gotten around to watching season 5 and 6 of that, though...)

...why people are religious (yes, although I'm a convinced agnostic atheist, I have to agree that I find religion very fascinating sometimes!)
...how and under what circumstances I would manage to survive the zombie apocalypse (let's face it: I'm not the only one contemplating this; it has become somewhat a form of modern romanticism...)
...anything actually.

either partying with friends, watching a good movie (at home or at the theater), doing other cultural stuff, or - at the moment - writing on my thesis/studying for my final exam.

This is the first time I've signed up for an online dating site, so please enlighten me what to do! ;-)
