My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Update: I just moved to Logan Square! Yay no more suburban cultural wasteland!

Update2: New pictures uploaded.

Conversation, learning, observing, and growing as a person are my priorities in life. There is nothing I enjoy more than a good meal, good conversation, and relating to other people on new levels.

My ultimate goals in life surround making the world a better place for everyone.
My hobbies include museums, music, film, astronomy (mostly in documentary/planetarium form), aquariums, art and all forms of expression that aren't overly abstract / pretentious, walks and hiking, discovering new places to eat, cooking, comedy in all forms, concerts, trivia, board games, video games, bedroom games, camping, i'd like to add fleeing the earth to the list when the technology finally gets up to snuff with my wishes.

I really want to add european travel to that list soon. I'm trying to get on the speaker list at 31c3 in Hamburg in December.
I'm a very sarcastic and funny person.. I'm totally going to throw that out there, and then have no evidence of it for the rest of this profile.

I had five different majors in college and never finished any of them (Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Business Admin, Economics, Mathematics). Checking "some college" on things makes me a sad panda when I have 8 years of college education. I plan to return to college and finish a BA in Mathematics after I gain IL residency (dat tuition). I never really found my calling while in college and just kind of wandered through majors exploring what I liked and what I didn't. Cryptography is where I have settled and now advanced math directly applies to what I want to do with the rest of my life.

What makes me unique? My personality is an INTJ and it describes me pretty well if you're into that Briggs-Meyers thing... but it is a lot closer to fantasy than reality... I actually think I'm a lot closer to an ambivert than an introvert, because i routinely crave social interaction and excitement, but I also routinely like to kick back and recharge for a night...

My fundamental belief system is best paraphrased by the famous atheist, astronomer and astrophysicist Neil Degrasse Tyson:
"When I wake up each morning I have two goals. Know more than I knew yesterday, and to reduce human suffering."

Disclaimer: If you are into things like maintaining fake friendships, we probably will not get along well. I'm just trying to save us both some time on a fundamental compatibility issue that OKC's algorithm appears to suck at.

What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
My latest project is creating a web privacy company from scratch to fight for a free and open internet. I was actually working on it long before he NSA / Edward Snowden scandal broke, that was lucky timing. I have worked tirelessly on the startup for over a year and it is finally starting to pay off!!

I am now working on the creation of a 501c3 non-profit venture capital firm to fund free and open software projects that can be trusted by the world. Capitalism, secrecy, and software do not mix to make a trustworthy user experience.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Scrabble, Mathematics, Skepticism, Pragmatism, Free-Thought

I'm great at taking care of myself. I don't expect others to pick up or clean up after me, I cook, I pay my own way, and I handle my life.

I will destroy you at Mario Kart. There will be a smoldering crater where your couch seat was.

Making inane lists of skills.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Looks: My blue eyes and awesome teeth.

Personality: I speak and think with clarity and precision, and swear an abnormal amount when i'm passionate about something. Unless of course I find you attractive. Then i'm a stammering idiot until we get to know each other a little better.

I can carry a conversation for hours.

I enjoy trolling people in real life.

Psionics: My telekinetic ability.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Books: I tend to read a lot of raw sciencey books. Authors include Hawking, Hitchens, Colbert, and a metric shit-ton of material on network security. My last casual read was God Created the Integers by Stephen Hawking.

Film: I like a wide variety of film from the ultra-bad MST3K grade stuff to high end hollywood movies. I tend to value creativity in storytelling over cornering myself into certain genres. Some of my favorites are Eternal Sunshine, What Dreams May Come, Ace Ventura, Super Troopers, Dogma, Terminator 2, Cloud Atlas, Shaun of the Dead, The Usual Suspects, Memento, Requiem for a Dream.

Music: I like a huge array of music from classical all the way up to hip-hop and hardcore rap, and all the way up to European EDM and (some) dubstep. The only genre I do not care for is Country. Some highlights in my library include the Foo Fighters, Bassnectar, Florence and the Machine, The Last of the Mohicans Soundtrack, Netsky, Purity Ring, Tupac, Kanye, Jay-Z, Madeon, Deadmau5, Vitalic, The Glitch Mob, Bvnny. I'm currently on a huge Massive Attack binge and loving the shit out of Weird Al's new videos!

Food: Fruit smoothies sustain me. I want to buy a Jamba Juice franchise to install next door to my home.

TV: I like a lot of animated shows. A short sample would be Futurama, Archer, South Park, and Aqua Teen. As for my insane Netflix queue i've got Arrested Development, It's Always Sunny, MST3K, Louie, Scrubs, How I Met Your Mother, Breaking Bad, An Idiot Abroad, and about 12000 more things... I'm currently marathoning 30 rock.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Where I will be in a few years. My whole life is in upheaval and I'm gaining the ability to realize multiple life-long goals and dreams.

Whether i'm going to have to bug out of the country in a hurry if the political climate on privacy changes.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I don't really have typical Friday nights. I can be doing any number of things from working (if something imploded) to hanging out with friends downtown somewhere, or feeding any of my myriad interests that are always in flux. My favorite hangout is The Whistler on Milwaukee.

I used to have a Friday night poker night with my friends before moving out to IL. I'd love to get that started again soon.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I can recite all of the lyrics to the songs in "The Labyrinth" purely from memory.
