My self-summary
I don't consider myself a wise person, but I've learned a few things in life: Whenever you have a chance to swallow your pride, take it. Always wear a belt to a funeral. And never, under any circumstances, mess with a woman wearing curlers in her hair in public.

I've lived in a bunch of places: Washington DC, San Diego, New York, Prague and Sydney, but my heart belongs to Boston. A recovering journalist, I'm now a business strategy consultant, which sounds kind of douchy but is actually a wonderfully varied, intellectually challenging career that puts me in contact with some of the smartest people I've ever met.

Some fun facts: I won an ice cream-eating contest (Cookies n’ Cream) but lost a milk-chugging contest (2%), made a brief appearance on an episode of HBO’s Real Sex and invented the holiday Halfoween (trademark pending).

When I'm not business-strategizing, I'm running long distances, cooking large meals, organizing (un)necessarily elaborate social events, playing flag football or scuba diving. Like all people who live in Davis Square, I love bacon, craft cocktails and craft cocktails that taste like bacon.

For me, good conversation is the foundation of intimacy in both friendship and in love. Yes, that means I love to talk, but I love to listen just as much--I'm genuinely fascinated by people, and the spectrum of ways they think and live.
What I’m doing with my life
I work in strategy consulting for the telecom/IT industry. I spend my days making "decks," "ramping up" and following "the 80-20 rule," but mostly I solve difficult problems and try to translate confusing, complex shit to people who don't have time to figure it out on their own.
I’m really good at
cooking, trivia, giving toasts, reading The Economist, running long distances with a backpack, making weddings fun, managing conflict, writing snappy headlines, pretending I know what I'm doing when I'm playing the harmonica, giving other people credit, and eating peanut butter.
The first things people usually notice about me
I have no idea, and I have never asked. But I am painfully curious.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Room, Founding Brothers, Catch-22, The Heart of the Matter, Bel Canto, In Our Time, Independence Day, The Big Short.
Movies: The Godfather, Pulp Fiction, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Vertigo, Casablanca, Miller's Crossing, Hiroshima Mon Amour, Dr. Strangelove, Dazed and Confused, Kundun (roughly in that order)
Music: Lately? Let's try The National, Future Islands, Built to Spill, Joy Formidable, Mumford and Sons, Nick Cave, Grouplove, The Naked and the Famous, Modest Mouse, Van Morrison, Arcade Fire, Radiohead, The Hot 8 Brass Band, Led Zeppelin, Swedish House Mafia, Kanye West, Macklemore.
Food: Generally, all kinds not from a fast-food counter. Specifically, anything with coconut milk or pork belly. I'm a very adventurous eater, and look forward to visiting a market in Mexico City where you can buy live bugs that taste like candy (or so Anthony Bourdain tells me).
On a typical Friday night I am
At a bar with a group of teachers and architects.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I prefer dinner to brunch. I've lived with this secret for a long time, and it feels good to finally tell someone.

  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 28–37
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For long-term dating
You should message me if
you're a good listener, you readily accept and offer compliments, and you are the heir to a large fortune of mysterious provenance.

(Or, if you're interested in taking the CapeFlyer down to the Cape this summer, and riding bikes around with stops in between for oysters, fried clams and soft-serve ice cream.)
