I am driven, layered, and whimsical.
My Self-Summary
Once upon a time in what feels like a galaxy far far away (a small
town situated amongst paper skyscrapers)...
"You're not from around here are you?" he asked.
"Not exactly." she said as she smiled and disappeared into the
night.
I miss Chicago sometimes. The city and the people there are
amazing. It just wasn't home for me... not like here or well a
place not far from here. And while I haven't lived there for nearly
10 years now, there are still pieces of that world embedded into
me.
Fast forward and hit ludicrous speed. I've lived in San Diego and
now Los Angeles.
I am the siren of the sea- a jack of all trades but master of none.
I want to explore all that life has to offer.
Art. Music. Film. Nature. Food. Dancing. Etctera etcetera.
I am in a constant state of wide eyed wonder but still have my feet
on the ground.
"Vision without action is a daydream and action without vision is a
nightmare."
The world is my canvas.
I live everyday as if it were both my first and my last.
I dream with my eyes open and am constantly finding inspiration in
the littlest things that people tend to miss.
"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in
awhile, you could miss it."
What I’m doing with my life
Life is a balancing act. In some ways, no one ever truly aspires to
grow up.
I’m just a girl like any other.. trying to make believe I’m any
more extraordinary than ordinary.
I believe that nothing is impossible. Impossible is an illusion.
There is always a way, you just have to find it.
My life is about finding the way to make dreams realities. From the
meager beginnings to the moments of levity and everything in
between.
I'm reveling in those spaces in between.
I'm living movie like experiences and am simply enjoying the
journey... growing, learning, and most importantly, appreciating
the gifts that every person both negative and positive have
bestowed onto me. Because the people in your life are the best
investment you will ever make. Because that one silly thing that
you may do today may spark a wildfire of smiles and make someone
else's day better.
I'm paying it forward.
Oh and pursuing my art: currently I'm writing a comic book series.
I’m really good at
I have a natural ability to play "the bartender" role. People tell
me their secrets and I keep them under lock and key.
For some reason, my mere existence can light up a room- scientists
have actually installed chips in me in order to try and figure out
as to why. (I think it's just so they can watch me shower)
In all seriousness, besides being able to essentially manufacture
smiles,
I can hold a
conversation for hours about
anything and nothing provided I'm not the only one carrying the
torch.
I may not know every nook and cranny of the city, but I most always
am one of the first people contacted to ask what there is to
do.
I'm incredibly perceptive and frequently find myself in interview
mode. I will pay attention to the details and read between the
lines. I'm an information junkie. I love to find out what makes
people tick. I'll be your audience if you'll trade off with
me.
I will be your
muse
if that is what you wish.
The first things people usually notice about me
In a very monochrome reality I'm black and white yet full of color.
I have a very eclectic sense of style. I think it carries over in
most every avenue about me- from the figurative to the literal. The
clash and mix match of old fashioned values with a modernist twist.
I'm a full sensory experience.
Also:
I am extremely vibrant and animated.
I'm tinier than people imagine when they meet me- one of my
nicknames is the pixie. Despite this, I am rarely missed in a
crowd. It may be the hair though.
I drive vehicles (that I have named) that possess just as much
character, and all of which, are
vintage.
Currently driving:
2001 Honda Helix CN250 (a scooter named Shadow/Kage)
1971 2002 Bmw (Olga)
1995 Pontiac Firebird (Birdie)
and up until this last year, RIP:
1971 GMC Pickup truck (aptly known as the Beast)
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: The Catcher in the Rye, Lolita, works by Vonnegut,
Emerson and Palanuik, and Various other poets such as Poe, Rilke,
and Rumi.
I find myself reading more comic books these days however since
I was raised on Comic books and have a passion for
the industry: it's a feast for the eyes and the brain with it's
composition of words and visual art- though my father doesn't agree
in buying a book initially based on its artwork. By all means tell
me which way you go on this debate because I'm always open to
differing points of views on the matter.
Comic Books that currently catch my fancy: Detective Comics
(for the ongoing Batwoman storyline and not the Question),
Optic Nerve,
The Walking
Dead,
Tank
Girl, Fables, JTHM (hello days of post adolescent youth),
Scott
Pilgrim,

etc.
I lean more towards indie books than mainstream press although
the following labels are gold too- Image, Dark Horse,
Fantagraphics, SLG.

pulp. I wish they made great Pulps
still.

and the list goes on. I love a wide variety of music and sound
from multiple eras. One minute I may be in the mood for jazz or 90s
alternative rock, another I could be dabbling into modern folk
& surf style music, another lo-fi, another pop punk, another
experimental or noise, etcetera etcetera. (Yes there is a genre
called noise- and it's highly fascinating.) Oh but I rarely can
stand listening to rap, screamo, garage metal or club music for too
long at a time. Seriously I'm not sure how some people do
it.
Food: Yakiniku , Indian, Sushi, Dim sum, Mongolian BBQ,
cupcakes (I love to bake. It's better when I have people to share
it with however.), Tacos, Seafood, fresh fruit
The six things I could never do without
There is nothing of physical material that I could really never
do without- none of that is absolutely necessary. Life is about
living and creating. Some of it is meant to be shared with the
world, and others are supposed to be legendary. Does it all exist
in the end? No. It was all a figment of your imagination. Or was
it?
However the following things below are what carry me through my
days: inspiration to create,
passion/a goal to strive
for,
music in
various forms from the standard to laughter to clicking keys to
train whistles and bustling street corners, tools to complete the
ideas inside my head- camcorder, pen & paper, laptop, camera,
sidewalk chalk... , the ocean, & a vessel to get there: my
scooter, a train,
a plane, a rinky dink automobile, a bus, or dare I say, even my own
fin. (I'm a mermaid after all you know;)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Art. The future. The present. The people I surround myself with.
Where I am headed. Where I am. Steps forward. How to get to my
dream career. How to help others that I meet along the way. The
spaces in between.
On a typical Friday night I am
I never know where I'm going to end up these days. I don't have a
set routine for any night let alone on a Friday. This is such a
vast city with tons going on.
My nights vary from geeking out, hanging out with friends at random
or planned locations, exploring a new place alone, travel, museums,
concerts, movies, art gallery showings, dinner, and.. well quite a
bit more. I am fortunate to live pretty vicariously- but am just as
responsible as I am irresponsible. Crazy huh?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
You're going to have to get to know me to find this out.
Take time. Believe me, I'm worth it.
You should message me if
*You have no expectations and just want to let things happen. With
time and patience and a balance. Because sometimes it's easy to get
caught up in the rush of would be more long lasting passions.
Friendships need their time to grow and so do romances- lest they
all end tragically.
*You are not only after sex. I want something meaningful, tangible
and real. I repeat, if you are not only after sex because I want
something that's built to last and not just for the night.
*You are a positive and optimistic person. You don't have to be
super successful career wise, but you have to be happy, have goals
that you are working towards, ambitions, and passions.
*You are intellectually stimulating and can hold your end of the
conversation. (Being attractive outwardly means little to nothing
with me if you can't keep up with me on charm and rapier wit.)
Bonus points if you are also capable of being content with moments
of silence & you are an effective nonverbal communicator.
*You're spontaneous and creative but still have your feet on the
ground.
*You want to show me some really great music/movies/book
quotes/books/art/ etc.
*You're looking for someone awesome to hang out with in Los Angeles
(and frequently random trips to my favorite place in the world San
Diego)- museums,
roller derby,
art galleries, comic shops,
book stores, thrifting, flying kites, going to the beach, burlesque
shows, dancing (not clubs), hiking, concerts, musicals, fooding,
drinking red wine and blue moon, and whatever else adventures
happen along the way.
