My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
**Deleting In a couple days to reduce online distractions. I hope to hear from you!**

I'm a world-traveling homebody; health-conscious sweets lover; luxury-loving spendthrift; and introspective extrovert. I define myself by my love of learning. The world is full of wonder and I want to devour it all!

That may sound intense, but I'm really a homebody who frequently dabbles in lots of different adventures and I'm looking for the same. If you are an extreme of either, a complete homebody uncomfortable with trying new things and going on adventures, or an outdoor addict who MUST be out every weekend, we probably aren't the best long-term match.

I know what I want and where I'm going. Will you join me? I am looking for a partner to explore and experience life with me, someone who will challenge me, inspire me, and ground me. I want to meet someone who enjoys travel, aims for simplicity, values health, laughs contagiously, and strives for honesty, loyalty, and humility. I want to give and receive affection. As long as our values are close and you're curious and a good conversationalist, sharing the same interests and activities doesn't matter. I support your style, expression, and choices as long as we enjoy whatever our chemistry may be. Being prone to playful banter is a plus.

Some descriptive tidbit teasers:
--Fall weather + Friends or a book + Porch or Fireplace + Tasty adult beverages = Heaven
--I am ALWAYS up for boardgames.
--I yell, “I love Portland!” at the highest point of every bridge in town whenever I cross one. (And encourage you to add the same to your life!)
--I overuse analogies like a teenage boy overuses Axe body spray.
--Why is someone else's wine collection sophisticated, but my liquor and liqueur collection improper?
--I'm prone to overcommitting to multiple volunteer projects (they're all a good cause!) But getting better at saying no.
--I keep a written bucketlist, and actively cross things off it.
--I travel the world on free airline miles I get from mileage 'hacking'.
--I will have failed at life if I don't stamp my passport and/or visit one new National Park each year.
--I frequently stop to smell the flowers, literally.
--Loving and being loved by a pet is part of the human experience. My cat Professor Marshall Bob McBangs agrees.
--My primary transportation is my scooter which is fun, cheap, and convenient, but I have a Honda Element for all my adventure needs.

**Added: for the sake of respecting my time and yours, I must set a hard filter somewhere and that is with children. I love kids and kids love me, but I am unable to produce my own and I've decided I do not want to raise any. We could date short-term if you have kids or want them, but know that kids are a long-term deal breaker.**
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
After two fascinating degrees I'll never use, 6 months volunteering and traveling in India, 3 years working in Japan, and a host of other jobs, I've settled in the Pacific NW working on my PhD to be a professor. I don't like jobs defining people but couldn't be more excited about my career choice.

I live, love, and learn with a smile every day!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
...being a jack of all trades, master of none.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
A female friend I asked says she noticed my "nice broad shoulders".

I believe: I have an insatiable curiosity and am easily excited about and interested in most any topic or fact, and thus can talk to anyone.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
BOOKS: I mostly read non-fiction but intersperse it with fiction for balance and escape, especially sci-fi and fantasy. I also enjoy bathroom graffiti, packaging copy, and witty t-shirts.

MOVIES: I'm a sucker for Pixar and Studio Ghibli. I tend towards dramas, comedies, documentaries, and CGI films for leisure.

TV: Occasional Jon Stewart, South Park, Archer, etc. And occasional Netflix series binge.

MUSIC: I have always been opposed to favorites; I believe there is something to love about everything. However, it is a fact that The Beatles are the best band ever.

My musical tastes are truly eclectic. I have my preferences but there is no genre I abhor. Subscribing to Spotify has changed my musical world.

FOOD: I refuse to refuse to try a food. I prefer trying a new restaurant over one I've been to. I will typically order the most unique item on the menu.

I brew my own cider and beer and liqueurs, make wicked tasty beef jerky, and use my crock pots regularly. I eat bacon and eggs for breakfast almost every day, and a salad large enough to feed a small family every day for lunch or supper.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. Information (internet, books, historical markers, etc.)

2. Vices (fine coffee, dark chocolate, single malt whisky, hookah, staying up late, licking my dessert plate, and many more)

3. Conversation (interesting, intimate, and/or challenging)

4. Exploration (so many places to visit and so many things to do, yet so few weekends)

5. Companionship (Comfort in silence and beauty, as well as, "Did you see that?!")

6. Wonderment (I am a wonder-filled child at heart)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
...making the world a better place and how I should best pursue that. Really.

...how I'll overcome procrastination, tomorrow.

...my next overseas adventures.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
While living in India I shart myself. Twice.

I'm a well balanced and sensitive ENTJ and wonder if a relationship with an INTP, ENFP, or INTJ would be the "ideal" they say it is.

Marijuana friendly though not a huge partaker.

I'm sex-positive, kink-aware, and open to and experienced with being open. FL? Portlandist.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
--You believe in something, even if it's opposite everything I believe in.

--You believe getting right to meeting up for a caffeinated or alcoholic beverage is the logical step after introductory emails (5 minutes in person will tell us more than lengthy profiles and emails). I am NOT looking for a penpal.

--You have multiple books on hold at multcolib.org.

--There are a few things in my profile you're not a fan of but you like the rest, and you recognize this is just a rough tool to get connected with people you might enjoy a relationship with.

--You enjoy communing with nature.

--You are The Awesome.

--Introverts, please don't shy away. I love you for who you are, so please feel free to message me. A complimentary yin to my yang, as some say, has worked well in the past.
