My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
"He who treads softly goes far." - Chinese proverb

Have you ever met someone who just seems to have themselves totally together? Great listener, intelligent discourse, cares about what you think, remembers your name and always has a smile on their face? When I'm at my best, I'm this fine gentleman. However, I can also be easily amused by things like Jackass - which means that while I wish to present myself as refined, I appreciate a good fart joke just as much as the next person.

All of the following topics are things I happen to be interested in and if you have some kind of overlap, that would be amazing.

In no particular order: baseball, physics, religion, Rock Band, contemporary art, travel, driving, the ocean, Mythbusters, magic, football, hockey, dogs, animals, life in the country, astronomy, psychology, trivia, cycling. Anything that's not on the list may fall under the heading of 'new experiences' in the next section.

I am a flatterer, realistic, and rather cynical
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I work more than full time as the Business Development Manager at a car dealership in North Attleboro, which tells you everything and nothing about what I actually do for a living.

Being Dad part of the time, hubby the rest.

So...I'm married now. Happened 9/7/13. The wife and I are enjoying it.

You're likely to catch me spending my spare time volunteering with the local Little League, trying a new restaurant, or just adding another new experience under my belt. If I learn 120,000 different skills, I can trade them in for a whole boatload of Pogs.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Having those moments of crystal clarity where I say something that can be mistaken as profound, and then having the moment pass and we move on. I also spin a pretty good story and am rather entertaining for short bursts. I make an excellent pillow.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
They also may notice that fact that there's a lot less of me - since 2004, I've dropped about 170 pounds and feel a lot better than I have in ages. That's not to say I'm not still 'hefty' or 'portly' or 'husky' or 'fluffy', or your favorite synonym for fat - but I wear it well.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Napalm and Silly Putty, Walden Two, Why Do People Believe Weird Things?, most anything to do with trivia, physics, or atheism.

Movies: Office Space, Glory, 300, Waiting, George Carlin/Lewis Black DVDs, MST3K (especially Time Chasers). a lot of Kevin Smith movies, and most anything Jackass has ever put out.

Music: I've been on a Bloodhound Gang kick lately, as well as Reel Big Fish, sludge metal a la Helmet's "Unsung", Cake, Violent Femmes, Talking Heads, Nirvana, Jim Croce, Rage Against the Machine, Gordon Lightfoot, BNL covers of Prince songs, well done mashups, and Zombie Nation - especially when I'm watching Bruins games.

Food: Your basic meat/potatoes/pasta kind of guy.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Books, bicycling, bread, baseball, Basset hounds, and breakfast - and that's just the Bs.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
If intelligence is a mental disorder. I've been told I'm very smart, but I can't see as how it's helped me one little bit get through life. I would happily trade my intellect for the ability to be just another happy blithering moron who skates through life without realizing exactly how meaningless my existence is.

I don't understand the average person - how someone can be religious, how anyone could possibly care about who got voted off their favorite reality program this week, why anyone needs to go to go to the mall and use their credit cards to buy some $120 pair of jeans that have sparkles on them. Why should I give a fuck about Victorious or what's happening on Glee?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Poor, but looking for something to do. I have people come over and play Rock Band with me, and that's a good timewaster. Normally I cook for them and there's some cocktails involved. Later, there's Scrabble.

If you want in, let me know.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I've gotten to the age where I'm thinking that settling down, having a family, and building for someone else's future are all goals I want to achieve in the fairly near term.

Breaking news...I have a kid on the way. Exciting and scary are both apropos. I hope I connect with the mother as much as I do the child.

Further breaking news...it's a girl! Mom and baby are doing well and I couldn't be happier.

Further further breaking news ...my daughter was born at 5am, 7/26/12. The family is resting comfortably.

Further further further breaking news - it appears I might be alright at this dad thing. Ask me about my daughter. It doesn't change much from day to day, but she's cute as all get out.

Country music is horrible. I don't care how much you enjoy it. I hate it. Passionately. Please do not force me to suffer through it. You can enjoy it - I'll pass. M'kay? :)

Baby #2 is on the way, and I think my family is complete. We're due in October.

Edit: Baby #2, a boy, arrived 9/18/14. Mom and son are again resting comfortably. It has given me to think, and I'm sure that I've had enough children.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You're ready, willing and able to make time for me in your life. If you're balanced enough to accept what I am able to give without the cynicism I've fallen into lately.

If you're the type of person who knows a little about a lot, feel free to educate me.
