My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hello! I'm a PhD. chemist who spent most of the last 10 years in a the small college town of Pullman, Washington pursuing my education. And then through a series of mishaps I ended up in another college town, although admittedly this one is considerably larger. I'm still relatively new to Tallahassee and would welcome someone to show me around more or to explore with.
While I was in Pullman, aside from the academics, I tried to keep active and worked my way up to a third degree black belt in taekwondo. Unfortunately after moving to florida I couldn't find a school I liked enough to continue my training, so I'm quite a bit out of practice. But I'm hopeful that I'll find something soon to help keep me active down here as well.
I'm a silly and caring guy who is looking for companionship and is open to the idea of it becoming something more. I'll often go out of my way to do a little something, be it sweet or absurd, to make you smile. I can be very affectionate and will be fiercely loyal to those who gain my trust.
Basically, I'm the closest you'll probably ever get to a talking puppy.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Currently I'm in a post-doc position at FSU trying to learn something that is almost completely unrelated to what I was trained to do while getting my doctorate. Also it includes stuff that I actively avoided having to learn while I was still in graduate school. So, that's fun.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Science! Also video games, though I've had less and less time for those in the recent years. Stupid growing up and having to be responsible.
I'll tell you what I'm not good at, spelling. That and remembering names. Good god am I bad with names. That has lead to soooooooo many awkward situations for me in the past, and yet my brain refuses to get better with names. It's kind of a jerk like that sometimes.
The first things people usually notice about me

I honestly have no idea. You'll have to tell me when we meet!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Books: Ishmael, Motherless Brooklyn, The Things They Carried, Kaffir Boy. I also really enjoy the Spencer detective stories.

Music: Favorite band - Bad Religion. Then in no particular order, Rilo Kiley, The Unlovables, Hot Water Music, Rise Against, Green Day, The Goo Goo Dolls, Lemuria, Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer. I'm growing more and more eclectic as I get older. Thanks Pandora!

Shows: West Wing, House, Battlestar Galactica, All of the Stargates, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, The Daily Show, several series of Anime. Probably more, but that gives a good idea I think.

Movies: The Avengers, all of the movies that lead up to The Avengers, then The Avengers again. Also all the movies that came after The Avengers. Anyone else picking up on a theme here? Seriously though, something about them just resonates with me, I was feeling just as much anxiety as Tony Stark was when I first saw Iron Man 3.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Internet Friends
Ummmm my phone I guess? I mean I'd get used to not having it but its so damn handy. Can't think of much else, guess I'm pretty easy.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Science. More specifically what it will take for humanity to continue to progress and not completely collapse under our increasingly insatiable desire for sources of energy. Also space.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That I will often, without warning, burst into song. Either a real song or one I just make up on the spot. They are usually about what I'm looking at, or the person I'm with.
