My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi I'm Daniel and welcome to my profile.

A bit about me: Born and raised in Culver City I find Los Angeles, West Los Angeles specifically, to be the best place to live. I've lived in Orange County and Moscow (Russia), and traveled to most of the United States and while I love traveling I haven't found a better place to call home.

Many have called me difficult to get to know with but amazing once that bridge is crossed. I have a handful of friends (8-10) that I hold dear to my heart and a few dozen acquaintances for different activities that I enjoy doing (sports, bars, board games, gym, movies). I don't use the term friend lightly (as most Americans do) as these are people I'd give up a lot for and go out of my way if they're in a pinch. I'm loyal to a fault to an extent, regardless of the warts or different paths my friends have taken as life splits us apart. I mention this because I value dedication, thoughtfulness, loyalty, and honesty over other attributes in people and it's the kind of person I strive to be in all of my relationships. I do love intelligence, wit, and sarcasm as well and practice each religiously.

Baseball, softball, and now kickball have all been regular activities in my life and what I love about each is that with each game, each play even the competition I have isn't so much with the other team but with myself. Striving to be the best I can be via a focused mental approach as well as honing my limited physical skills (I'm highly athletic, coordinated and flexible but I'm also 5'7", can jump half a foot off the ground, and am marginally what you'd call quick) to meet my own expectations.

I noticed that after answering some questions I've been rated as "aggressive" and "thrifty". To the aggressive aspect I'm more blunt than anything else. As I've become more successful professionally I've become less thrifty in a sense. I'll always be thrifty towards myself, it's something that was ingrained in me coming from a working class family, but I'm always willing to lend a hand to others with time or money if need be.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I just started a new job with the Los Angeles Community College District. Additionally I volunteer at a local mental health organization and play softball and kickball on the weekends. In a past life I was in AmeriCorps helping nonprofits serve families with small children better in Santa Ana.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm extremely comfortable in my own skin so I'm not bothered by different situations arising. I'm always up for trying new things be it activities, food, or learning about something new. If there's an activity short of extreme sports and you want to do it, I'll probably be willing to go along for the first time out and then make up my mind.

I'm also great at coming up with strategies for games and sports which comes in handy as I've managed baseball, softball, and soccer teams in the past.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My voice is extremely monotonic. Some people think this means I don't like them when we first meet, but I'm just unable to alter my voice much. It's deep and makes for terrible karaoke.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

My favorite literature is classic novels such as Tale of Two Cities and Last of the Mohicans. However my favorite book is probably The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde due to the wit and sarcasm throughout the play.

Internet blogs: Keith Law chats, Andrew Sullivan, Slate, and contributing on forums.

TV shows that I watch religously: Bones, Elementry, Suits, Newsroom, Last Week Tonight, White Collar (great last season), Orange is the New Black and Royal Pains. From the older ones I love West Wing and Scrubs (the last season never happened). Also I can't stop watching and rewatching BBC's Sherlock Holmes. It's just amazing.

Movies: Equilibrium, Gattaca, Once, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Bye Bye Love, Keeping the Faith, Stardust, Pitched Perfect, Princess Bride, the new Batman trilogy, Marvel films and V for Vendetta.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Board Games
Crushed red pepper
And frozen yogurt.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
how to be a better person. What skills I should learn next to be better at my job and what new recipes can I cook that utilize crushed red pepper.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
going out with friends to the movies, a dive bar or staying in for a game night.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My nickname in Little League was Howard after Howard the Duck. Apparently I was a graceful runner (still am).
