I grew up moving every couple or three years to new states. I was a skinny, quiet, total science geek. I married while still in college, graduated, started my career, moved to Oklahoma (and never left), had and raised two wonderful kids, divorced, and now I'm finding out what I'll do with the rest of my life!

I was divorced in December 2011, and recovered enough to feel like my life is under control again. I tried ballroom dancing last year, plus dabbled in west-coast swing and Argentine tango. Then, this year I've taken up Contra (renaissance/old English) and Folk dancing, and I'm having a BLAST!

Probably conversation. I've been told that I'm very easy to talk to, and I'm very open.

This is a bit awkward. People don't usually mention the first thing they notice about you. Perhaps it would be my smile, or I'm tall, or my blue eyes? I think I stand out among my age group because I've stayed slim. Maybe you will tell me what you noticed first, so I can fill this out better. Then again, after meeting you maybe we won't need this site anymore! :)

I used to read a lot, so I've got lots of books. But I don't seem to have much time to read for fun anymore. I get a couple science magazines because I can read the articles pretty quickly.
I watch all kinds of science shows on PBS: Nature, Nova, etc. I also enjoy their British comedies on Sunday night. But they are on too late to catch regularly.
I enjoy many different movie genres. Action Adventure (very old and very new James Bond, Bourne trilogy), Disney productions both for adults (like the Pirates of the Caribbean series) and children (the old classics and the new Pixar movies). Pretty much any movie with an element of comedy will interest me.
While I adore Italian food, I'm lactose intolerant and have had to give it up. I tried making my own using lactose-free products, but they lose something in translation. Oriental food is probably the top of my list now. But, I can't think of any food type that I don't like! :)
I enjoy local productions of plays and musicals. I've also seen several Cirque du Soleil productions and was totally blown away!
I like classic rock, smooth jazz, and classical music.

Well, lately I spend a lot of time thinking about what to put in these essays! :)
Really, I try not to spend a lot of time dwelling on anything. I've spent my life setting goals and striving to achieve them. I've got my formal education, professional career, and children raised and out on their own. Since my divorce, I purposefully try not to make long term plans and just enjoy every day for what it brings.

Contra dancing with a LOT of friends! Hopefully followed by snacks, drinks, and conversation at a local establishment. On weekends when there is no dance on Friday - there is almost always one on Saturday! On dance-less Fridays, I will just relax after a week of work. Maybe have dinner with a friend and/or watch a movie.
