My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
My basic everyday pleasures...visual, intellectual and sensory delights...connecting / sharing...laughing out loud...challenges...

I'm looking for a broad-shouldered city-dwelling cerebral foodie. Let's share cellars, reservations, cooktops and queues. Thoughts, passions and curiosities too. I'm into baseball, music, theater, ballet, opera, jazz joints and piano bars and have a weakness for buying tickets.

Raised in Cleveland, I came to DC for college and never left. I spent my career as a commercial interior designer - you've likely been in some of the places I've designed - but discovered my real passion in green design. An early champion of sustainable buildings I care deeply about the viability of our beautiful orb and all its critters.

A self-described do-gooder, I'm a proudly admitted fan of President Obama, bleeding heart causes, Jon Stewart, Gail Collins, Planned Parenthood, innovative educators, Sting and Bono.

Possibly construed as oxymoronous (a made-up word I think) I'm also a self-described uptown girl. I put care and pride into the way I look and live and have the means to spend money on both. I take the Acela, not the bus, to NYC. If a $70 bottle of wine or a 5-star hotel make you squirm we're probably not right for each other.

I'm a mother and grandmother and revel in the joy of it. My two ex-husbands are two of my best friends. Family is important and I hope you are (were) nice to your mother.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I've had a happy life and want more of same.
More travel, more grandkids, more chocolate, more books, more good health, more challenges, more joy.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Nurturing. To keep the relationship happy and vibrant we support and challenge each other. A hug at the end of the day, the sweetness of just being together, talking through issues with respect. We can't change each other, but can bring out the best of what's already there and really like what we see.

Also, parallel parking.

Let's see - many guys have said I'm prettier than my picture, and I think my picture is fabulous so you can just imagine....

Washington Post, NYT a daily habit. Try to read The New Yorker every week. TV news tends toward Brian Williams and MSNBC. Loved Midnight In Paris and want to go back - to Paris. Ann Patchett, Philip Roth and Ian McEwan novels, Leonard Cohen, Paul Simon and Broadway shows, The Met, Treme, (I miss Breaking Bad), Puccini operas, female jazz singers: i.e.: Lizz Wright, Eva Cassidy - also the new Hugh Laurie CD, HBO and NPR, CBS Sunday Morning, dinner parties, convertibles, outdoor dining, autumn leaves, and really good French fries.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. My children and grandchildren
2. Laughter
3. Great wine
4. Music
5. A hospitable planet - at least I don't want to
6. Chocolate covered cherries
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Hmmmm - I'll have to think about that.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Friday night and the lights are low
Looking out for the place to go
Where they play the right music, getting in the swing
You come in to look for a king
Anybody could be that guy
Night is young and the music’s high
With a bit of rock music, everything is fine
You’re in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance...

Go ahead - hum along
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Can't wait for that final first date.

You're kind, giving, passionate and curious; those who love you think you're handsome. You know how to pick out a good cabernet, but you're secure enough to trust me with the wine list. Hopefully, your eyes will hold my attention, your jokes will make me groan and your intellect will challenge me.
